This has been bugging me for a year now. We have 2 outdoor v2 cams connected to an outdoor base station. Every time the power or internet goes out, the base station comes back online, but the outdoor cams do not. It can be fixed by resetting the base station. The problem is this is on our vacation property so when it’s down, we are without cameras for days/weeks.
Any settings that can be updated to fix for this? Firmware UTD. I’m considering bagging the entire Wyze ecosystem and moving on to something else.
I’ll note we also have 2 wired indoor cams (v3) that come back online with no issues. We also have a separate bird feeder cam that comes back.
Put the base station on a smart plug so you can reboot it remotely. I’m guessing if the internet isn’t online when the cams try to reconnect (internet router usually takes longer to boot up than devices do) they for whatever reason don’t retry. Could also put your internet on a UPS, base station too if you can. Though I guess that only helps with power outage, not internet, so the smart plug route is probably best.
My Base has gone off line twice so far this year so I just power cycle it via smart plug. Three of of the four WCO v1 cams come back on line quickly, the fourth on takes about 4-5 minutes. It’s been that way for almost 5 years.
Thanks, I’ll try the smart plug. Ironically, the cameras came back online yesterday. Since we were not there, not sure if it was a power or internet outage and if they behave differently based on which one.
