Not sure the SD card is recording

I got a new cam v3 on Friday to replace a malfunctioning v2. Today I added an SD card (32GB Wyze brand). I was able to successfully format the SD card, so I’m pretty sure the camera sees it. But I’m not sure if it is recording. What is the best way to test the recording operation? Thanks.

Advanced settings, manage SD card should show it having space used. You can also just go into the live view of the cam and tap “SD Card” and see if you can view recorded video from the past.

The v3 has the old UI and the “Playback” button still.

I’ve given up trying to keep track, my OGs have one interface and my Pan v3s have the other. Playback, jump to SD, SD Card, all the same to me at this point.

Thanks for the help. When I go to Manage SD Card I see 0.22G/29.52G, so I assume there is something recorded on the card. I also set it only to record Events Only. But I still don’t see where to find the recorded events. If I go to events, I see them but only stills (at least it looks like stills).

Yesterday when I went to Live view and clicked the Record button, the time would not change (stayed on 00:00:00) then when I stopped it would say Save Failed, Just now I tried it again and this time it worked, Saved the video to Album. But I only see one video in the album. I guess manually recording is different than recording events. Is recording Events only different? This is in my garage so nothing much happens in there, but I was thinking that, for example, when my wife leaves for work, that event would be recorded as a video, not a still. I would expect to see a video of her going into the garage, getting in the car, driving out and the garage door closing. Am I wrong about that? Thanks

You need to click the SD card or playback button on the live view screen of the camera. If you go to the Events tab of the app. You have switched to looking at the cloud saved thumbnails/events.

Yes, this saves footage of either SD card recorded footage or live viewed footage straight to your device (phone, tablet). This is a different recording type than SD card or cloud recording

Correct. If you have SD card recording enabled and set to events only, then your camera will record 1 minute increment video files to the SD card in the camera. If the motion continues into the next minute, the next full minute will be saved and so on. These videos are accessed via the SD card or playback button from the cameras live. View. The stills or thumbnails that you keep referring to are the cloud saved events. In addition to the SD card recording, you appear to have detect’s motion enabled in the event recording menu, and again, this is your cloud recording settings. It appears you do not have a cloud service like cam Plus on the camera. Otherwise you would get motion events in the event tab, And not thumbnails.

No, you are not, as stated above, you’re just looking in the wrong location for the SD card saved footage. Since you say it’s your garage and it doesn’t have much happen, when you click the playback or SD card button, not much will show on the timeline. Timeline. For testing, you can enable the continuous recording so that everything is saved and should be fairly easy to find any recorded footage after you click the playback button.

Found it. I was out in the garage this morning looking for something (a few minutes) and when I went to View Playback I found a larger section in the timeline, went there, and saw the whole video of my event. Thanks for the help!!
