Not Receiving Audio Notifications of Events using Samsung S21

My issue which has been communicated to the support group and deals with not receiving auto notifications as & went an event occurs, yet the event is recorded..This is occurring on all 16 cameras and four door sensors. All options provided by wyze support have been tested and the only one that works is to uninstall and reinstall the app. Once this is done auto notifications begin but for a short window of about 3 hours and then snotifications will stop. The Wyzw app was test on my wife’s phone and it reacted the same way.

The Wyze specialists (total 4 todate) and with each of their replies tells me we are going in circles and are not comprehending the issue.

Curious if other Samsung users are dealing with the same notification issue.

Bottom line this all worked before …say 6 to 8 mths ago.

The most recent example…my neighbor needed to check my house while I waa away. He came across two outside cams + 3 indoor cams and a door sensors. Not one device provided an audio notification yet all captured the event along with sound.

HOW DO WE FIX THIS??

Welcome to the Forum, @tplayerx5!

I don’t currently use Samsung’s Android variant, but the one thing that comes to mind is this setting:

I use a Samsung S24 Ultra. Here are some ideas beyond notification categories to try.

It’s my understanding that stacked notifications reaching 24 to 40 or so :person_shrugging: can cause silent or no notification. My s24u seems like around 39-40 when tested. Android/Samsung notifications limits of some sort, or fancy name I don’t remember.

I suggested in Samsung Beta making safety alerts like cameras etc, unlimited. They agreed that was a good idea, but who knows when or if they’ll implement it or how if they ever do.

It makes me think this because OP didn’t say he clears notifications regularly by swiping.

If uninstall and reinstall seemed to fix it for a few hours, doing that “likely or perhaps* wipes the stack.

And with 16 cameras they can accumulate fast and stack up again if not swiped away in 3 hours.

Personally, I use Tasker to wipe the oldest notification at count of =>30. Macrodroid might also work “if” this is the issue.

Also worth checking. Wyze app, account, app settings, running in background on.

Phone settings, apps, Wyze app, battery, unrestricted.

Other don’t kill my app settings for de-optimizing Samsungs to the degree possible. Samsung | Don’t kill my app!

After those, my old brain has to think harder.:wink:

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the Manage Notifications located in the app section under Wyze defined as notification category and the three options provided are on. I have also unrestricted the battery and have played with allowing the Wyze app to run in the background or another option for running in the background is via the battery control..never sleep…In this mode you can only chose one meaning the app controls running in the background or battery never sleep. Neither made a difference.

Other thoughts?

If they’re not stacking above allowed limits.

Check in settings for Samsung updates if you haven’t.

Tried clearing phones internal cache? Also proceed with caution so you don’t accidentally wipe the phone.

No DND rules or anything blocking the Wyze app notifications?

Not using Samsung Good Guardians and its forcing optimization?

Did you transfer to the s21 from another phone?

That reportedly causes issues sometimes and requires, uninstalling apps and downloading from play store, but sounds like you did that when mentioning uninstalling and reinstalling the Wyze app.

I’m told, and I have never done this…..if you preceed do so at your own risk!

Supposedly s24u is more lenient about this issue with notifications. Your call. Supposedly clears Google Firebase Cloud Messageing free service.

Open Settings → Apps.

Tap the three-dot menu (top right) → select Show system (or “Show system apps”).

Scroll down or use the search bar at the top to locate Google Play Services.

Tap Google Play Services → Storage & cache (or just Storage).

Tap Clear cache.

Tap Clear data.

Immediately repeat steps 5–6 two or three times in quick succession (data often rebuilds quickly; clearing multiple times fully resets the FCM token).

Might have to lig back in ti Google Play first.

After this, force-stop the Wyze app, reopen it once to let it re-register, then close it. Restart your S21 and test. Walk in front of a camera.

May reset some pay cards etc and require logging back into Google Play.:grimacing:

Exact steps uncertain to me. So, your call.

Another supposed fix, as it’s a known s21, s22 issue with certain One UI versions.

You’ll have search this up for how to.

Turn on developer mode in settings, back in settings at the bottom you should see Developer Options, in there, turn on ADB and follow the directions you searched up for how to whitelist Wyze from Doze mode using ADB commands. Or ask a “reputable Ai” lol, how to, after describing the notification issues.

I don’t want to help you break your phone.:grimacing:

Proceed with the utmost caution after thoroughly researching any of this!

Good luck!

Without a better understanding of what you’re experience, I think you already covered my other thought:

If Wyze has unrestricted app battery usage and you don’t have some other setting or power management app that’s interfering, then I’m not sure what else to suggest. If uninstalling and reinstalling the Wyze app results in the expected behavior but for only ~3 hours before failing again—and if this is repeatable, as you seemed to describe—then I’m stumped at trying to account for that.
