Not a WYZE Server Issue. V3 Non Pan Cameras not working with newest firmware. V3 Pans Work Fine with older firmware,

Title says it.

My V3 Non Pan cameras had auto updated before I caught it. They are not working today.

May V3 Pan cameras are working, but I had never installed the latest firmware on any of them.

I disconnected my internet and my V3 Pans continued to work just as before. My V3 non pans continue to not load.

To me this seems like a firmware issue. I cannot understand how this can be a Wyze server side I issue if I have the same problems without a live connection.

Can someone enlighten me please?

Thank you

There is an AWS outage.

It’s a system wide issue. All my cameras are not working right. Even the ones that I can view a live feed are not recording events or giving any notifications. And if the camera is on, I can’t turn it off, and if it’s off I can’t turn it on. And most of them are simply Offline, one is reporting no internet connection, and overall this sucks. Seems to be going on for almost 8 hours now and Wyze is just now figuring out that something is wrong.

I work in IT in a large enterprise environment and if so much as a printer goes offline I am aware of it within minutes.

It should not take almost 8 hours for a company like Wyze to figure out that their entire system broke.

I get server errors. WYZE has said this is the cause…

Wyze is becoming the Best insecurity camera available :poop:

Hi.

Thank you kindly for your reply. The issue of offline devices and login difficulties should not affect me on a local intranet, at least that’s how I feel. Why would I be dependent on an Amazon cloud server to look at my cameras locally? I can see every camera that is V3 Pan that is not updated to the latest firmware without an internet connection. Somehow overnight the internet connected V3 Non pan cameras that have auto firmware update turned off have been disabled. This problem is still evident even after disconnecting my device and monitoring device from the internet. However I can again still use my non updated V3 Pan cameras while disconnected from the internet.

Sometimes I have trouble explaining my point.

Can. you explain how a cloud server that I do not subscribe to is somehow disabling my camera or Apps that I can use to view said camera without any sort of update I authorized ? Should I not be able to use my equipment independently from the internet or did I miss some disclosure that I should have paid more attention to?

Thanks in advance

In short, the camera talks to the cloud for processing of events. In addition, when you log on to the app, there are also cloud communications going on. So basically, the cloud is needed for authentication and event processing regardless if you subscribe to Cam Plus or not.

With that said, my cameras are still functioning and occasionally I do get a notification. I also have SD Cards in the camera so that they will still record while the network is not accessible.

@WyzeMatt @WyzeJasonJ would you all like to add anything or clarify what I am saying?

I’m BACK ON AT 11:20 ET.

If you just tried, theyed be working as it all came back around 11:20 ET for me.

Thank you. I can verify this is the case if you need to log in to the app. I do not like this, there should be offline accessibility to my cameras, or that maybe should be clearly stated when purchasing. Maybe it is and I missed it. Setting that aside, Thank you for that clarification.

However I am still left with the questions as to why I could see all of my V3 Pan cameras that I did not update to the latest firmware. They were working fine, I did not need to log into the app because I was already logged in. However the three V3 non pan cameras would not work that were updated to the latest firmware before I could get to the settings to change them.

This is confusing to me. If there was a server side problem would it not affect all of my cameras in the app, Why only the latest firmware updated cameras and not the older firmware ones? Also if the AWS is only needed for authentication then I should have been able to see all of my cameras not just those right?

Sorry for being so pesty about this, I just want to know how to fix this problem from happening again so I need more information.

thank you

It affected everything differently. I could log on with web view but not see anything. I couldnt log on with app… others had some cams down and not others… it was very confusing today
