No SD card

I’ve used the same sd card in this wyze v2 for over a year. This week when I went to reformat it while in camera I’m getting the message ‘No SD card’. Removed SD card and reinserted. Same message.

SD cards do fail. You could have a card that finally failed especially if you use it for continuous recording. Can you try the card in a PC or another camera just to rule out the camera having a glitch?

One of my V2 cams did the same thing. Card worked fine for 3 months, now says No SD card.

ive had this happen a couple of times. in my experience it was an error on that card. by putting it in a pc and doing a full format ( not quick format) It was fixed and worked fine when re- inserted.

and as the local Card-nerd. I must ask. what type of card is this. based on that one answer we can probably rule out a few things.

Definitely sounds like card failure. Do you have a high-endurance MicroSD card or just a regular one? And do you use continuous recording? If you’ve been using a regular MicroSD card for a year – especially with continuous recording – it’s probably about time for the card to fail, honestly. Any cards that aren’t specifically marketed as “high endurance” explicitly void the warranties if they’re used in surveillance cameras, because they’re just not designed for constant rewrite cycles like that.

Thanks to all who responded. I did move the cards (this happened to 3 different cams) to another cam with the same results. Two were wyze microSDs and 1 SanDisk Ultra (SDHC) Bam suggested a full format but I wasn’t sure what that was so did the Fat32 and same result - no Sd card. Next I ran exFat on both the wyze cards and both were successful. Two separate cams recognized the cards. I could not get the SanDisk to format. The card would show on my laptop but I could not get the format to run. I’m guessing this is a bad worn card? I do run continuous recording on these cams. Does anyone suggest a specific card? Maybe the constant reformatting while in the cam wears it out? And maybe that’s a silly thing to say, but i can’t imagine why the sd card would all of a sudden not be recognized. Again, thanks for your input.

This is what I’m using.

Same here with a Wyze 32 GB card. My camera had worked perfectly for 6 months. Then suddenly it started showing “no SD card”. So I dragged my ladder out pulled the card and formatted it on my pc, and I’ve had no trouble out of it since.

i’ve had similar issues w/ mine w/ various cards and even after re-inserting them, until after several tries one will work. because i can get a card to work after trying a few times, to me it seems like a glitch in the cam. because i’ve had this issue on a few cards i had asked about card compatibility and volume, etc. after being told that it would only recognize a 32gb card, even after having both a 64 and a 128 work, i have stuck w/ 32 or less, but this issue still occurs often, including this week. makes me wonder about updates etc. in the case of last night, app said no sd and further, cam was offline, but after exiting that screen back to the home screen and back, found cam and card. peculiar behavior.
as an aside, i am familiar w/ formatting and use several cards as i am testing a variety of raspberry pi models and move these things around & have a program which allows the format of a 128 as fat32.
