Need camera with wider field of view. V4 actually has smaller field of view than V3.
I have a request for a new camera product. A WYZE Ultra-Wide Outdoor Camera. Let me explainâŚ
I have a number of WYZE cams, 3âs, 4âs, and others. As the cameras have gotten better my enthusiasm for using them grows. Mostly, I use them to keep an eye on digital machines I run, but as the image quality has improved, I find new visual uses for them.
For the last 12 years, Iâve run a weather website and use a custom camera setup to capture images and time-lapse videos that I send to local TV weather casters. Since Iâm in a nearby zip code I suspect youâve seen them. For this I use a custom camera and capture setup. Recently I installed two WYZE 4 cams for a different view. Theyâre set to capture an ultra wide view. With overlapping images I plan to stitch them but what much better would be an ultra-wide WYZE cam that captures 165-180 wide field of view. I suspect it would be dual lens. 4K would be very nice.
I know the solution Iâm suggesting is not a security use but Iâm sure customers wanting an overall view of a property or dwelling might make for a good use case, too.
Iâve enclosing images of my weatherola.com cam view and the two WYZE v4 views. What I want is an ultra-wide of the two images together in a single camera. If you develop a solution, let me knowâŚ

A 240 degree panoramic view like the I phones have would be nice. I agree. It would be nice to have a wider angle view, in my case for security purposes. I think Wyze would rather sell people two cameras to be able to overlap and capture this angle of view rather than one cam.
All about profits. Bty, I like your pictures. am a Noaa weather spotter and can understand
The need for your request. Most of the lot sizes where I live are 60 feet wide and with the one v3 camera, it just barely picks whole security range with cam mounted on extreme one side of house. It would be nice to mount camera in center of house with cam view angles exposing security features of 120 degree to left and 120 degree right. Iâm sure many other v cam user would like
your suggestion. I think other Wyze competitors either have this feature now or will have this feature in near future.
Timcelâ very good request hopefully Wyze
Gets it done within the next 10 years.as they spend more time debugging their product
Than making product improvements
I do have to say, my 2 - v3 cams have been the most stable (no bugs) over the last 3 month as compared to over the last 3 years when I bought them.
Both higher frame rate and 4k, and ability to tweak exposure.
The website currently claims it does great with license plate captureâŚthatâs only if the car is still. If itâs moving you just get a blur. Alternatively a vehicle recognition could trigger a few still shots with settings altered to get a good plate read.
We have a back gate on a first road that connects two public roads and have been having problems with people breaking through the gate as a shortcut. I put up a couple 2.5k cams along a road/driveway. They are pointed about 20 degrees from head-on to try and reduce the relative speed and see plates better. So far all I have are videos of white pickup trucks. Sheriff canât do anything with thatâŚhe needs a plate capture. And thatâs during the dayâŚat night all you see if headlightsâŚtoo dark to see the car and the plate is washed out white form the IR. Even when a car stopped all I could see was a glaring white plate, no numbers.
Make a camera with larger field of view (FOV)
Please make a camera with a larger field of view that are separate from the floodlights. Minimum of 160 degree FOV is preferred.
Some have had success swapping Wyze camera lens to get a wider field of view.
Brilliant idea!
USB-C is expected for all new projects. This allow for more power for advance feature like brighter LEDs and longer cables. USB-micro is out of date.
Dual band WiFi with 5Ghz. Home routers with WiFi 5/6/7 need to use 5Ghz for maximum throughput.
Subject: Suggestion for Improving Wyze Security Cameras
Dear Wyze Team,
I have been using your security cameras for some time now, and I must say that, in general, I am very pleased with their performanceâespecially with the latest generation. However, one significant area that needs improvement is the Wi-Fi reception. The cameras tend to disconnect frequently and require close proximity to a Wi-Fi router to maintain a stable connection.
I would like to suggest that you consider developing an outdoor model with external antennas, similar to the Tapo C325WB model. I have used Tapo cameras in areas with trees and challenging environments, and they provide excellent reception due to their external antennas. Implementing a similar design could greatly enhance the connectivity of your outdoor cameras, making them more reliable in various conditions.
I truly hope you consider this improvement, as it would make your cameras even better.
Thank you for your attention and for continuously working to improve your products.
Best regards, Ruben
Not sure if it was mentioned previously, but changing from antiquated Micro USB chargers to USB C would be a something that should have happened with the v4s.
Also, having a zoom version like you did with the OG. I had to buy a zoom OG the other day to cover a far off spot, but Iâd much prefer a zoomed version of the v4/v5.
Not as important, but something you had with the OG cameras is PIP mode. I use that intermittently. I find it pretty handy, but only on my few remaining OGâs.
Support for Wi-Fi 6/6e/7, especially because of 5 GHz and 6 GHz. 2.4 GHz is getting pretty crowded and has a ton of overlapping signal constantly.
A slightly wider angle than the current cameras but always be handy. I always wish I have at least a 90° angle view on most of the cameras I install.
Also, a fisheye / 180° / 360° option would be nice in certain instances. That would have to be a separate V5 180° camera, obviously. You wouldnât want that on the normal v5.
An optional protective/security dome would be nice . I can see this being useful to keep out extra bad weather, and keep the camera secured so people canât mess with it as easily. Itâs currently fairly easy to just turn the camera or unplug it if itâs not mounted really high out of reach.
Last, an option to flip the camera view 90° instead of just 180°. This can be useful in certain spots like hallways.
I work with and install Vercada cameras at work. They are way more high-end/upmarket than Wyze. And some of those features are available with their hardware. Some features could be included in a v5 pro model if it keeps the price of the normal V5 down. That being said, the V4 cameras are very nice especially given the price point. I pretty much replaced all of my older cameras with them when they came out. Thank youâŚ
