New Firmware has messed up 50 percent of my Cameras

As an IT Analyst, I know that the biggest UAT you can have is from end-users, but yeah, you’d think the beta testers would at least help flush out this nonsense. And when stuff like this does roll out, an immediate roll back on the part of the company would have been the best recourse as to not lose dissatisfied customers. This was a terrible roll out.

The last really bad one I remember actually bricked some of mine (2 iirc)

I tried rolling back to the earlier firmware and two just died - no life at all.

So I am now waiting for Wyze to fix it and I have managed to get 5 of my 10 V3s to behave properly ( for now!)

Completely agree. The company must be in trouble or this would have somehow been addressed by now. On another note, the Wyze web portal was really improved the other day and was/has been working fabulously!!! Now when I log in to check I see it’s back to the previous version, which works “okay”. Something is definitely wrong at Wyze. I suspect they’re either going out of business or will soon be bought out by another company.

If a buggy release means a company is going out of business, Microsoft would have been gone decades ago. What actual evidence do you have to support this theory?

If you do that then you’ll be at least four firmware versions behind. Wyze updates their firmwares monthly

As a matter of fact, we the beta testers did flush the nonsense, at least I did in numerous posts and by reporting it directly to Wyze. Wyze as usual, decided to ignore beta testers input.

Not the first and I bet not the last.

That’s not true at all, it is normal behaviour for Wyze. Seen it countless times since I’ve been a user, mid 2022. You just learn to live with it or move on.

Haha yes, this is very true. Appreciate you beta testing the upgrades, Habib! If only they would take the feedback and delay the release. But sometimes there’s something else more important in the firmware and they shove it in anyway!

No evidence whatsoever. However, the recent track record of both security issues and a significant reduction in addressing reliability concerns should make anyone ask why that is happening. Yes, all companies including Microsoft have had issues. But, the fact that Wyze seems to be allowing these basic operational problems to persist without addressing them more promptly does make me wonder what is going on there. I don’t recall having anywhere near the operational issues with my Apple or Microsoft systems that weren’t addressed in a reasonable time. Not that Wyze is anywhere near those two companies. Hopefully Wyze gets their act together and soon. Clearly I’m not the only person having problems using their products.

Spoken like someone who’s been around the block more than twice :winking_face_with_tongue:

You answered your own question/suspicion with the above statement. Keep in mind that Wyze is a really small company and I bet their programmers are wearing way too many hats.

In any case, I do not condone their approach to updates either, but also I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories.

No conspiracy theory intended at all. But agreed, regardless of the company size, they need to build and support a more reliable product. I can no longer recommend their products given what has/is happening. No idea how their sales are going but I suspect these issues will not help.

That’s good to know.

100% in agreement.

Same here, when my neighbour approached me with the question what type of cameras I am using, I told him to steer away unless he’s willing to baby sit them. Knowing that he has subpar WiFi and ISP I knew he’ll have a plethora of issues with Wyze. He did he’s own research and went with TP-Link Tapo. Hasn’t had any issues so far.

Drop in a bucket.

Ring has sent Wyze enough new sales in the last week to make up for any losses from this 1000 times over.

Ring is the one hurting right now. I doubt they’ll go out of business over it, but that’s the sort of reputational damage that ends a company, not some firmware or app bugs (of which Ring has plenty of their own).

It’s not like Amazon can’t afford loosing Ring

What hardware are you using for monitoring groups? I use 10 inch fire tablets modified with FireToolBox. They will NOT work unless using app version 2.50 and not updated past 4.36.14.3497 (for V3 cams) & not past version 4.50.15.4800 ( for cam pan V3). Those are the only cams I have. I have turned off automatic updates & will not update past the versions currently loaded.

For monitoring I use iPhone or iPad with WYZE iOS app 3.10.5. I have five V3 cams, five V4 cams, one V3 Pro and four WCO v1 cams. The battery powered WCO v1 load but do not live stream but will if I tap the “play” arrow icon. Camera show up four per page.

They still haven’t helped me find any lost dogs (but I also haven’t yet sent them any blood :grimacing:).

Back on topic for the OP’s issue, I’d still suggest submitting a log and opening a ticket since at least one of the stated goals here has been to directly contact Wyze.

I’m not sure what I had before. I SCRAMBLED after I updated the firmware on all my V3s. My newer Samsung A11 tablet is running the newest version of the Wyze app with no issues. On my old A9 tablet and on Bluestacks I am currently running V3.6.7.694 and I haven’t had issues with those versions since yesterday.

I mainly use Bluestacks for monitoring the day-to-day. The PC has a nice big screen I can look at. The Web View is fine, too. But Bluestacks with Wyze app has a much nicer layout and I can adjust the viewing pane easily.

Are You Kidding Me! Guys, throughout the years ++ here and now, you see the truths about this company and its support for its products/”ALL”. There is no testing before a release or upgrade. You all are missing their mission as a company! You have seen this yourself, time after time, only to waste your time and money. I do, however, give credit for the support here from the guys that run this NON-WYZE company support, but this site is all voluntary people helping the customers through lack of support by the actual company.
If you read your legal agreements and sub-agreements, you will see the truth about what you paid for and its that simple. I would suggest you spend your time elsewhere with a product you can and will enjoy! Best of luck as always Capt Rob

Just to add some balance to this very long posting, I have six V3 cameras and six V4 cameras and other Wyze plugs and stuff. I’m running the latest IOS app software and all my cameras are running the latest firmware. I have a Cam Unlimited subscription. All my cameras are doing everything I’m asking of them. I’m very happy with Wyze. I understand that this is not true for everyone, but there is at least one very happy customer out there. Me. :slightly_smiling_face:
