New Events Page Icon...Why!

I never said AI would totally go away
Web sites never went away, after the DOT.com bubble

But we are in what I call, the DOT.com error of AI

Just like in 2000 dot.com boom, everyone was promising the sky with web sites.
many web sites, failed, and the markets crashed

We are in the same phase with the AI, does everything, and your laundry too.

There is a bubble with AI, it will burst some, just like the Dot.com bubble.
companies are thinking that customers, want AI everywhere,
and most cusomers don’t.

I’m all for tech, and AI
But there is a point where it hits software bloat mode.
and the AI demands by consumers
just don’t exist

Microsoft realized that some months back, after they ignored the customer complaints for well over a year, of customers, complaining, they DONT want Microsoft Co-Pilot, stuffed into everything MIcrosoft.

Microsoft was sticking AI (CoPilot) into Notepad …the simple text editer app…
Among many other useless areas.

Now they removed it, and publicly acknowledge, in so many words, We went too far sticking AI into all of our apps, and OS’s

I think the reason everyone hates what software companies call AI is that it’s anything but intelligent. It’s actually so dumb and useless, that no one wants to waste their time dealing with it. Even the language models that people are are slowly starting to tolerate, are nothing more than a search engine algorithm. It only seems intelligent because it can optimize the search results for you and spit the results out in a conversation format. The more you use it, the more obvious it becomes that it’s just a different way of using a search engine. Especially when it’s telling you something completely wrong and then corrects itself with something that’s also inaccurate. Then you start to realize it’s all a marketing gimmick using everyone as its target audience.

Not sure what you are speaking of
We are talking about AI, and how it is being pushed into every nook and cranny of Wyze.

Also

“”“” There’s no AI. Algorithms are not intelligence. “”“”“”

How do you think AI works?

It uses algorithms

Quoted
“”" An AI algorithm is a set of step-by-step mathematical instructions that allows a computer to learn from data and make decisions on its own “”“”"

The top 10 artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms are foundational mathematical methods used to find patterns, make predictions, and solve complex problems

Core AI and Machine Learning Algorithms

  • Linear Regression: A supervised learning method that draws a straight line to predict continuous numbers, such as housing prices or future sales.

  • Logistic Regression: A classification tool that calculates the probability of an input falling into one of two groups, often used to detect spam emails.

  • Decision Trees: Flowchart-like models that split data using a series of simple yes-or-no questions to arrive at a decision or score.

    [image]YouTube·Lucidate +1

  • Random Forest: An ensemble method that combines many different decision trees to fix individual errors and improve prediction accuracy

  • Gradient Boosting (GBM / XGBoost): A sequential technique that builds models one after another, where each new model fixes the remaining errors of the previous ones.

  • Support Vector Machines (SVM): A geometric classifier that finds the best dividing line or boundary between different classes of data.

  • K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN): A simple approach that classifies a data point based on how close it is to its neighboring data points.

  • Naive Bayes: A fast probabilistic classifier based on Bayes’ theorem that assumes all input features act independently.

  • K-Means Clustering: An unsupervised method that groups unlabeled data into a specific number of clusters based on similarity.

  • Neural Networks (Deep Learning): Interconnected layers of artificial “neurons” designed to mimic the human brain and recognize complex patterns in images, audio, and text.

I’m agreeing with you, not sure why you’re explaining it. It’s all an algorithm that is marketed as something it’s not that’s why people can’t stand it

Because I bought into Wyze years ago starting with the V2 and at the time they were really good for the price point. Then they had a really good partnership with a great AI company but once that went away their own AI never was as good. The issue is that Wyze never really focused on their software (and customer support), and whenever the software did work good they would ad another feature that screwed things up and then it would take them months to fix it. Also, the constant new product releases is just a waste of plastic. Usually they are minor improvements and with the same software issues. Every camera, sensor and lights I’ve bought all suffered software issues. I won’t buy anymore Wyze stuff now. Wait, I take that back…if they made a camera with the specs I’m looking for at a low enough price point, then I’d probably buy it. But I cringe saying that because I know there will still be software issues.

Oh and I pay for as little subscriptions as I can, because that stuff just drains the wallet.

I could ignore the icons if they weren’t in color and large on numerous pages. They’re too intrusive!

The AI misses a lot of what’s going on in my recordings. For instance, it might see a large black dog being walked by a person but doesn’t tag the person. Most of the time it won’t see small dogs walking with a person. Sometimes it won’t tag either one, yet it will tag a parked vehicle. It’s even completed missed a person walking right in front of a parked vehicle, yet only tagged the vehicle. It’s not once tagged a bird, insect, tree waving or lighting change on my camera’s. Although today I was surprised to see that it tagged a garbage truck as a garbage truck, I’ve never seen it do that before.

I am having a completely different experience than you are.

Couldn’t disagree more on your assessment.

I can totally relate to what you have said

I too have experienced where it says it detects People and Vehicles, and when I check on its detections, I find detections of People & Vehicles, there are only Vehicles.

But I assume the AI detection will get better over time,
as customers “Security Video’s” are used to train Wyze AI..

I just turned on Motion Tagging on my V4, that faces a busy street in front of our home, and just realized that the AI can only detect 1 vehicle at a time in the picture with Motion Tagging…

that can also be taken as a security weakness…in the detection process.

No need for snark. He makes a valid point. They are saying that the plan for which I pay $100 per year isn’t the best they can do, but we all knew that already, didn’t we?

We would assume the AI detection will get better over time however, it’s already been many years since Wyze first released their AI detection and it hasn’t improved very much at all. And again, it was way better when they partnered with that other company and was using their AI detection. When they fell apart and Wyze started their own AI detection it has never measured up. But what upsets me is when a company advertises how well their features are and in real life they don’t even come close. So we really aren’t getting what we are paying for.

But what really bugs me for instance is that the AI will highlight just a person walking a dog, but then it might tag the video as Pet and not include Person. Especially when both the Pet and Person stood out and were easily identifiable. Wyze AI isn’t learning…how more years is it going to take? And if it can’t get this right then it makes no sense to keep adding new tags that never get identified in the videos. Wyze seems has a history of adding features when the current features don’t work correctly. How about fixing things first?! Then add new stuff later.

That was my bad, I was responding to @Earl.Automation’s comment about me selling the cameras.

What I have noticed with the AI detection new compared to old,

Just viewing the event logs
If a person was detected with the old AI
You would see the person in the mini icon event view

With the NEW AI
Most of the time, I don’t see the person captured in the event view icons
I have to view through the cam video,
to the point where the person was detected.

The old AI, I always seen the “person” in the mini event view capture.

I think we have to treat Wyze AI as if it were in the Childhood stage. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Still learning, and nowhere near college age yet.

For me, I am getting tired of the hiccups,
I just want to have a cam setup, run, and that’s it
I don’t ( and believe most don’t) want to have to be tinkering around on every bug/issue.

Maybe I am being too critical of it all, as even Microsoft keeps getting it wrong with their patches and issues.

abouot 2 months back their Monthly update to Windows, there was just under 1000 patches in the released update. After it was released, they have to fix things they Broke in their 1000 patch/fix release.

Seems to be an industry issue… Dependability has gone out the window

If AI does a better job at computer coding,
I say “be done” with humans writing code.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think it’s painfullyobvious now that any improvements on Wyze’s AI were made with the intention of getting more $ from us, and you can’t expect to see it if you pay only $99 per year.

Yea we donated our recorded cam video captures
to train Wzye AI
Only to now be charged for it

For me, I actually don’t use most of it.

Something happens, I check for time frame, and view the events,
to find what i am looking for

Done

And this is what upsets me! The AI tagging of recordings should be the same for all the subscriptions, but I have no issue charging more for description alerts and longer cloud storage. But the AI should be just as smart. And stop tagging parked vehicles, the point of a security camera is to show me what was moving.
