Neighbor using either a laser or LED light to shut my camera off constantly

You are manually shortening the life of your SD Card. SD Cards have a life span. If it isn’t a High Endurance card, it has a shorter life span. They are only good for a specific number of rewrites. Every time you format your card you are essentially wiping it and rewriting blank.

The cams will automatically overwrite the oldest video files when the card gets full.

Even if you are referring to the Cloud saved Event Videos in the Events tab… Wyze deletes those for you after 14 days. Why waste the time to delete any of them?

What are your Cam v3 settings? Wondering if your cam is auto switching to night vision mode and turning the IR lights on which blinds the view behind glass. From your phone/tablet: Wyze app Home > your cam > Settings (gear icon upper right) > Advanced Settings. What do you have “Night Vision Mode”, “Night Vision Conditions” and “Night Vision IR Lights” set to. You can just post a screenshot of your Advanced Settings page to save time. The Advanced Settings page looks like this:

 I should ask this in an AMA sometime. It is possible that Wyze simply does a “quick format” which doesn’t actually write the data, it just clears the File Allocation Table, which doesn’t reduce the card life at all. The camera was already going to write over those sectors again anyway as it runs out of space, and a quickformat just tells the camera to ignore the data already there, but doesn’t alter it at all.

This is why data on “formatted” cards can actually often be recovered using special software.

Since formatting with the Wyze cam is actually relatively fast, I’m guessing they just do a quick format, and it doesn’t actually affect the card lifespan and all the data is probably still there and viewable. I’d like to get an official answer on that sometime though.

Really? As far as I know, the only way to delete what’s on the uSD card is to format the card. Doing so every day will substantially reduce the life of the card. The cameras deal with the card being full by overwriting the oldest recordings to make room for new recordings. So you accomplish essentially nothing by deleting uSD card recordings.
Note, if you are recording only events to the uSD card, the above statement may not be true (I have every cameras set to continuous recording and the only way to delete that is format).
Second note, if you are have having this problem, I HIGHLY recommend that you set the cameras to continuous recording because it is too easy to miss stuff with events only.

That is exactly what the app does for all Wyze cam types when clicking the “Format” button. It just clears the FAT. It does not perform a low-level format.

Yes the events of each day are cleared. I have to laugh a while sounds crazy but I know how that is I got another one from my house for my cat when I’m not there. LOL I wouldn’t mind decorating my whole house with cams. There’s one guy here that has them on his rooftop and facing every direction and even one on the back of his car which is parked in front of the community center. I guess it would be kind of addictive. You would never need to paint your house if you put enough cams there. Haha…I wonder if there are cam necklaces.

Don’t laugh. Not crazy.

I have 3 cams that look at mouse traps so I don’t have to go check them. I have 5 cams that look at a wall 6 inches away so that I can use them to get Automation Upload Video Push Notifications to trigger Macro Scripts in my phone that perform Automated functions.

Having one to watch your cats, not crazy. Having 8 that watch nothing… Crazy.

Sounds like this is most likely what’s happening.

I quick tested a bright led flashlight on the v3 pro outside not through glass and it did wash out most of the cam in night color mode. IR should make it easier for sure but not necessarily disabling it is enough to stop it.

Be cautious. in some areas there a laws that restrict you from viewing neighbors with camera system.

In my area, video surveillance is legal in areas people should not expect privacy (like my sidewalk). All of my cameras have my neighbor’s houses in view which is legal in my area. Here is a possible gray area. If your cameras record audio, check your laws on recording voices without posting sufficient notice. All of my cameras are inside looking out, so recording voices is not a legal issue for me.

Could be one of these

I can verify they work provided the WiFi is 2G and the network doesn’t use the 802.11w-2009 standard.

But this would kick off anything on 2G, not just the cameras.

That sounds illegal! I think all of them probably are. I was still on my Wi-Fi so I don’t think it was something like that. It’s a scary thought that someone can get something like that for $39. I’m sure a lot of crooks use it. Thanks.

Yes, it is illegal (for the most part).

I have some solutions but I they are probably frowned upon mentioning here. That said, multiple cameras with some hidden is the key to covering your area. All cameras should have a camera that includes them in the view of another camera. Do you have a location where you can point a camera toward your propert from the perimeter. Most of my cameras point toward the house or to the corners of the yard from the yard perimeter. Nobody is looking for cameras behind them if they enter a yard, they’re looking for cameras on the building.

Now I have the proof that I need to prove that she did something to my camera and is continuing to do it. I stayed home from pool today on purpose and watched as my camera got dimmer and dimmer and dimmer and I can see a light from her place shining here. So I went to the other window and installed the same camera facing towards the back of my driveway and the back of her house. And it is it is perfectly clear… so I know that she is doing something. Where do I report her? Now she can be happy because now I can see her backyard and before I could see nothing but two wheels.

I’ll bite. Primary legal application?

As I understand it, it’s the same category as jammers.
No, I’m not a lawyer and I don’t play one on TV.

Lol at the one who said he’s not a lawyer and doesn’t play one on TV.
I don’t have a place besides my window to put a cam facing outside. That is the problem. I can’t face anything towards my house because there’s nowhere to put it. Just ordered a new one and I went outside and yelled so the neighbor could hear me and said a few Choice words. Maybe more than a few. I told her she’s going to be going to jail. I know she heard me because she had just opened her garage and she was listening when I talked to my daughter on the phone, I guess. The back door was open because I usually open it for my cat to get some air, lying on the dryer. I told her, before I could only see two wheels, but now I can see her backyard and there will be more cams coming and maybe a police officer. Plus a few Choice words. I don’t know if she unhooked it or not but I will find out tomorrow because my daughter ordered me another cam and I will get it tomorrow, Because she has Amazon Prime. Installing it in the same place.

Again, please provide visual aids/screen shots if you are looking to identify what is happening with the cameras and their views. To me this sounds like the camera is adjusting it’s white balance and exposure levels due to a visible light source and it might be increasing in contrast as the sun sets. Anytime you see something that you are trying to identify it’s origin or cause, that can be screen shotted and provided here, I would recommend it so there is no loss in translation as to the description of it, and fresh eyes on it may see something you have missed.
