Mystery: notifications suddenly not audible

I installed 2 cam-og and am happy with their recordings (quality, etc ). I selected the Wyze 1 sound for notification. After a few weeks, the notification sound stopped…for both cameras. I still get a detection notice but no sound. I have reviewed every “notification” option within the app and on my phone (Pixel 9). I reset one of the cameras to factory settings and reinstalled my settings. No difference; still no notification sound. Anybody else have this issue? Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Forum, @mjm_33317!

As an Android user, you should be able to set the audible notification to anything you want:

  1. Long-press the Wyze app’s icon in your launcher or application drawer.
  2. Tap  App info in the pop-up menu.
  3. On the App info screen, tap Notifications.
  4. Tap the WyzeMessage channel that’s showing the highest notification frequency.
  5. On the WyzeMessage screen, tap Sound.
  6. Select whatever sound on your phone you prefer for these notifications.

:information_source: This process looks a little different than when I’ve gone through it in the past, so in order to get your chosen notification sound to work this way, it may be necessary within the Wyze app to select  Account ➜ Notifications ➜ Push Notifications ➜ Notification Sound ➜ System Default first. Doing that and then intentionally triggering some events/notifications might be helpful in selecting the “WyzeMessage” channel that you want to change.

If you really want to use one of the app-provided sounds (“Wyze Sound 1”, “Wyze Sound 2”, etc.) that stopped working, then it may be necessary to uninstall and reinstall the Wyze app:

According to what I’ve read elsewhere, sometimes in-place updates of Android applications hose app-provided notification sounds. This is apparently not limited to the Wyze app and sometimes happens for other apps, as well.
