I’ve probably picked the wrong topic, but there is no topic for the camera I’ll be referring to which is a WYZE CAM PAN (Model: WYZECP 5V — 2A. The camera is 5 years old). I have tried disconnecting it and resetting my camera several times and but all I get is a clicking sound and no voice saying “READY to CONNECT.” It just makes the recycling click over and over. Did my camera give up the ghost or is it salvagable? I’d really appreciate it if there was fix for this. Thank you. -Ella
Have you tried a manual Flash?
Flash Firmware for Wyze Cam v2 & Wyze Cam Pan
- Wyze Cam v2 and Pan firmware files can be found on the Release Notes page.
- Download a specific version of firmware, For Windows 10: Right-click on the folder and select extract all. For Mac: Just drag and drop the folder, put it on the root directory of your microSD card. For both Mac and Windows, rename the file to demo.bin.
- Power off your camera and insert your microSD card.
- Hold the setup button, plug in your USB cable, keep holding the setup button for 3-6 seconds until the light is solid blue, then release the button.
- Note: The “Solid Blue” in this case is not the same as the one normally seen on the camera. Instead, both the blue and yellow LEDs will be on at once, making it appear to be a lighter blue.
- Wait for 3-4 minutes. The camera will reboot and change light status during this time.
- Once this is done, your camera should be functioning with the original setup. No need to re-setup your camera!
Alas, I do not have a microSD card. I’m working directly off my Apple iPad. Could I possibly download the demo.bin onto my Apple desktop and send it to my iPad via email? Thank you for having responded to me. - Ella
You are welcome. Unfortunately no, SD is the only method for the manual flash.
Where would I buy or get a SD card and what size would I need? Or is there a work-around for getting my camera to work? Thank you.
-Ella
Outside of what you have already attempted. This would be the next step.
You can get a Micro SD card from Amazon fairly inexpensive. Wyze Recommends 32GB.
As an added bonus after you tried flashing the camera you could use the Micro SD card for continuous recording.

You will also need a device that you can transfer the files that you download. You mentioned an Apple Desktop and iPad. Not sure what versions you have but you will need a compatible readers.
If they have USB-C This would work

If lightning Cable, This

But say that I only want the SD card for doing the manual flash, I don’t really need the card reader, do I?
- Ella
(P.S. I apologize for so many deletions).
No, you would need the card reader to copy the files from your Apple to the card for the flash. It’s how you get the data on the micro SD card.
Hi can it work with a 64 GB SD Card?
64 GB cards are normally in the exFAT format. You need a card formatted in FAT32, 4GB ,8Gb,16GB, 32 GB will all work.
Thanks - I downloaded the latest firmware but on my Macintosh when I try to extract is says Unable to expand “demo_4.9.9.3006.bin”. It is in an unsupported format. What am I doing wrong?
Assuming you’re trying to flash a Cam v2, don’t extract. From your Mac, change the filename of the file located in the folder “_MACOSX” from “._demo_4.9.9.3006.bin” to “demo.bin”. Drag _MACOSX folder to the root of your SD card. Follow flash procedure “Flash Firmware for Wyze Cam v2 & Wyze Cam Pan” in instructions: How to flash your Wyze Cam firmware manually
@Antonius - Is this correct?
Thanks - it worked. Back from the dead.
I don’t see direction for the Pan Cam V1 on what to name the file?
The Pan cam V2 states:
For Mac: Drag and drop the folder, put it on the root directory of your microSD card. The file name should be recovery_wcpv2.bin.
Pan V2 current firmware should look like this
It was for a Cam v2. Looks like they got it going.
Sorry I though the subject was a Pan Cam. Anyway good to see it is working again.
