My subscription renews soon.. Desperate times for Wyze

Wyze, come on. I don’t care that my subscription renewed. However if you are going to send out a reminder, don’t do it literally right before the charge. Either send out a reminder, or don’t.

  • 1 Sep, 19:39, I get an email. Your subscription will renew in 30 days.
  • 2 Sep, 03:09, Order confirmed.
  • Check my bank, got billed on 2 Sep.

I am very sure this is an automated system, so there is no reason for this to be like this. Other than perhaps they may not want to give people the chance to cancel while they are having this V 3.0 app fiasco going on?

Just me or should a 30 day reminder actually be 30 days?

I recently cancelled my Cam Unlimited subscription which renews on 9-19-24. Before that, I setup a virtual credit card and turned off new charges. I haven’t received any email from Wyze about a renewal.

I don’t need Cam Unlimited and plan to return to Cam Lite, for free. At least I won’t feel ripped off for a subscription that doesn’t work well.

I don’t trust most auto-renewals. I set alerts on my calendar to cancel a week or so before.

Auto-renewing subscriptions make a lot of money for the companies when people fail to pay attention.

I also use expiring virtual cards for those companies that say they never received my cancelation.

I do subscribe to a password manager solution because I want to keep using it. I still note the renewal on my calendar.

If you purchase a 1 Year Subscription it shouldn’t renew until the renewal date. So you paid for 12 months and got 11 months, next year it will probably be 10 months. Mine expires 4 October 24, and if they take my money in September I will be calling the credit card company. I have reminders on my calendar also. I can understand maybe a day or two in advance but not one month.

i recently got a credit card transaction notification BEFORE receiving a lifelock renewal email, which was 30 days before the renewal date.

There is some irony that I thought that trans may be fraudalent. I was a bit annoyed that I had to track down what the credit card trans was about.

I am personally looking into this. This doesn’t have anything to do with app 3.0 and is likely a web subscription related issue. I’ll report back to you today what we have found.

@WyzeSeth for visibility here too.

Ditto. I never, ever, expect or rely on a company to remind me about a subscription I may or may not want to renew in the future. I always set task reminders on Google calendar to alert me when I start any yearly subscription I think may not want to renew in the future.

If I sign up for a free trial or special promotion then I also use a free virtual credit card that I can edit and set a custom limit and expiration date for in addition to the reminder.

Of course, I still think that companies should give reminders as a general principle.

Is there any chance you could upload a photo of the automated email you received and removing the PII from it? OR you can DM the email.

We don’t see anything amiss on our side.

Here is what I mentioned, both emails, and when the charge hit my credit card:
