I’m still collecting data from Netcam Studio but I have the following to report:
I will continue to review and track findings.
Review of Library Recordings
I now have enough recordings from the past few days to be able to do some tests.
Oh look, it’s me, leaving for work this morning:
As you can see in the screenshot I have a good number of clips across all 4 sources to review.
I’ve reviewed the video clips in three ways:
All three sources have good picture clarity. Some network lag is apparent, and there seems a difference between the filename and the timestamp on the camera, but I suspect that might be an issue between my phone time sync to Wyze, my server, and NCS:
That NCS will record about 2 seconds of footage from before it detected motion. Either way, I’m getting the motion detected in the zones I want. In fact, I’m getting a little too much, I have to adjust the sensitivity of my front camera detection zone in NCS.
Either way, things seem pretty stable. I’ll attempt to get more network stats with my next review.
That’s the same bloody magpie that keeps triggering my motion detection in the back - but this time, on Netcam Studio.
Look at him there at the top of the screen. Get a job you scruffy herbert.
get a job you scruffy Herbert is now going to be my line to use this week at work…outstanding!
Yeah, we had a little bit of snow.
I asked Netcam Studio to take an image every 30 seconds. I could have asked NCS to record a video and append it to the existing video, but I’m testing out the image capture from the cameras first.
I’m manually selecting frames and using ffmpeg to join the images into a video. It’s a little geeky fun,
Dean, what version of NetCam Studio are you using? I cannot get WyzeCam RSTP to show in NetCam Studio. I currently have 8 cameras (various brands) working in NetCam Studio X (x64) ver 1.6.1.0.
The WyzeCam RSTP stream is working because I can connect via VLC media player.
Suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok, I got it working. I transposed the letters. RSTP should be RTSP!
I’m an idiot!
Steve Q
I’m using 1.7.2 for reference, and I’m glad you got the Real Time Streaming Protocol working
Dean, thanks for all the work you have done with NetCam Studio and Wyze Cam. I now have incorporated Wyze Cam RTSP into my 9 camera NetCam Studio setup. It is a superb addition. I have also incorporated Wyze Cam into my HomeSeer Mobile iPhone app that I use to control my home automation system. Works great!
Thanks, Steve Q
So pleased it works for you!
Did you use NCS to slot it into HomeSeer, or was that direct feed from the cameras?
2 of my original cams are fed into HomeSeer via NCS. Several are direct to HomeSeer. Since I was familiar with using an NCS feed to HomeSeer, I used that approach for WyzeCam. I have not yet tried using the direct RTSP feed from the Wyze Cam. I will try it tomorrow.
Steve Q
The RTSP feed from the WyzeCam can be directly added to the HomeSeer app. No need to use NetCam Studio if you only want to view a current image from the Wyze Cam.
Lots of possibilities!

Would something like this eat into my Wifi bandwidth? I just got my daughter a new laptop so she would stop using my computer to play her games, and I’d hate to slow down her connection.
it would be nice if motion detection could trigger a jump from 10fps to the max fps for the duration of the movement.
If you are 802.11g or below, I imagine everything eats into your bandwidth. If you are 802.11n or above, I wouldn’t worry about it.
My experience with RTSP has been pretty good so far. Probably not the right time for requests, but I will throw one out there anyway.
Otherwise, using it with VLC, works flawlessly.
Thank you!
Mike.
