Nice hack, but it doesn’t work if you are not at home. That’s why I have for the cameras and also before my transformer a smart plug, not from WYZE.
So I can remotely switch on and off.
Internet (but not my home WiFi) went out for a while today, and now I’ve had my first experience with this problem. First-generation doorbell, doesn’t know what to do when Internet returns, unless WiFi goes out as well.
Seems like a dirt-simple fix to make in the firmware, to point the internal watchdog at upstream access, instead of triggering on WiFi, as the indicator to reboot and try to reconnect to mama.
