Multi-Cam Timeline: How do YOU use it?

All but one cam sits on a window sill. Lights, sound and IR are useless for me, except the one in the garage.

While viewing an event, I can tap the  SD Card icon to jump to that event’s position on the microSD card recording timeline. If that icon isn’t available, then tapping a blank area of the screen should make it appear. Or did you mean something else?

Most of mine are indoors and looking out through windows, as well. I’m just saying that the audio controls aren’t the only overlays on the Live Stream, so I’m not sure why those were specifically chosen as the only controls that would be present on a group view.

I did have a Cam v4 outdoors for a while, but then I moved it elsewhere to use its spotlight and detection as a trigger for other lights. I put a Cam OG in the garage once because I didn’t really have a better idea for it at the time and didn’t intend to leave it there, but I really like the view and have been impressed with its IR night vision.

Yeah, I meant from the My Day Show thumbnails or full video Events.

Maybe that is a subscription feature?

I only see events on my OG cam. Neighbor’s security lights go on and off. Front yard is quiet this morning.

Will check again in the light of day.

Using feature names consistently is also work. But if you don’t things get muddled real fast. :weary:

The utilities that live under the Monitoring tab are related in function but are not necessarily interactive. Exploring the interfaces and experimenting is the best way to find out. There is no manual.

That’s where I was seeing that control/button to jump to the microSD card timeline, though: It’s on the screen I get for an individual event when I tap a notification or select an item from the list on the Events tab. Maybe I’m not understanding what you mean.

I think I was seeing it before I tried subscriptions. I seem to recall that being part of the discussion in topics like SD card not found on my pan cam, so I believe it should still be there as an option for nonsubscribers unless Wyze has changed that in the app, too. :man_shrugging:

SD card footage does not appear on (nor is it linked from) any of these interfaces under the Monitoring tab.

AFAIK

Ah, okay. I’ll defer to your answer on that, then. I probably should’ve limited the scope of my response to the Monitoring tab, as in the title of this topic. When you said

earlier, I was thinking about

  1. selecting an individual event from the Events tab to view that or see a static thumbnail, depending upon subscription status, or
  2. the view of an event that I see when I tap a notification and that takes me via deep link directly to an individual event within the app.

Now I think what you’re describing is something different. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Added the Wyze launch video to the opening post:

and changed the topic title from:

Monitoring Tab: How do YOU use it?

to:

Multi-Cam Timeline View: How do YOU use it?

Are Wyze’s interface approaches novel in the security cam space? I’ve never seen another cam app except tinyCam so I’m kinda curious to know (but not enough to buy another brand to find out. )

I’ve put these ‘new’ things through their paces the last few days and have to say I find them well designed, solid and useful.

How do you think they compare?

The cameras I have that would be most on par with Wyze’s offerings are

and

and I’ve written about my experiences with those a little (thus the quotes/links). One thing that’s pretty slick about their UI is that I can tap on a camera’s tile from the home screen to go to that camera’s live stream, and then I can swipe left or right on the viewer pane in order to move between cameras. When I’m looking at the first of these cameras that I installed, the overlay says “< 01/36 >”, so I guess that’s how many they allow for this feature.

I wouldn’t expect Wyze to implement a feature like this (they seem to have plenty on their :plate_with_cutlery: already), but if I was a heavy Tapo user then this is something I imagine I’d use a lot to just breeze through a quick survey of my cameras to see how they’re doing.

Wonder how Reolink compares?

I wonder who could answer that?

YES. tinyCam is stellar at this. Stupid stellar. I use it only for viewing cams and drilling down and around. It is the WORD in intuitive navigation for my money. Which, granted, wasn’t much. ($4??)

Which reminds me why doesn’t Wyze if they’re not going to write dull listings of features (as I have done) and how to use them (which I have not) just screen capture video of someone using the features knowledgeably with ‘taps visible’? Why don’t they do this? Why Why Why? Have they?

I think that’s a great question, and I’ve seen similar requests/suggestions of this recently. I don’t have an answer, but I think that a resource like that would be useful to a lot of people, including those of us who are attempting to provide an “assist”.

I would DIE reading lengthy detailed comparative listings of features of two competing platforms (like Wyze and Reolink or Tapo)

I would LIVE watching screen cap videos of same demonstrated. :sunflower:

What am I missing/?? Must be something.
