CAM PLUS UNLIMITED - BUYER BEWARE!
The following link generated by WYZE AI CHATbot was in reply to my request to know how existing multiple cameras with different Cam Plus expiration dates would be handled with a new “Unlimited” subscription.
In summary, it indicates that " if you have multiple cameras with active Cam Plus subscriptions (monthly or annual), the unused time from each is combined and applied to your new Cam Unlimited plan." In my case with 3 existing subscriptions, the last of which currently expires on Jan 7, 2027, the WYZE AI CHATBOT calculated as follows: “July 18, 2026 + 328 days = June 10, 2027”. I thought that was quite a deal.
When filling out the form to subscribe for the “Unlimited” plan, the extension to my subscription indicated 73 days??
In a followup query to the discrepancy, the response received again from a WYZE AI CHATBOT responded as follows:
“If you have multiple cameras with different expiration dates, only the longest remaining time from your Cam Plus subscriptions is added to your Cam Unlimited plan. This means, for example, if your camera with the longest expiration is January 7, 2027, the days from that plan should be added.”
From the date of query, July 18, 2026, the approximate days to January 7, 2027 is approx. 173. I then contacted a live rep at WYZE who could not provide an explanation as to the discrepancy. When demanding a supervisor or someone in the relevant department to discuss, I was informed that this could only be resolved through an email exchange with support@wyze.com.
Followup emails to/from various contacts at Wyze email support, revealed that in reality the formula to extend multiple cam expiration dates has nothing to do with number of days, but “The Cam Plus Unlimited trial offer is calculated based on the remaining credit from your existing subscriptions and the price difference between your current Cam Plus services and the Cam Plus Unlimited plan.” Hmmm, sounds like typical bait and switch scheme to me!!
Given that the subscription fee has doubled in the last few years and increased from $20 to $30 for a singular annual subscription in the last couple years, WYZE is following the bank ATM business plan. Suck them in with low introductory prices, then increase fees once you have a dedicated customer base.
