I get constant pop up notifications that my MicroSD is not supported. My only options are to cancel or format. But I don’t use MicroSD cards. When I cancel the pop up, it comes back immediately. If I select Format, it wants me to shop for one. What gives?
It’s not on. It’s unable to be turned on without a MicroSD card present.
I have five V3 cams and the only time I have seen that issue was when the camera could not read the SD card.
Is your V3 camera firmware 4.36.16.6114 and is your iOS app3.11.6 (1) ?
Did this issues just start ?
Is your camera a regular V3 or a Pan Cam V3 ?
I have a Pan Cam V3 that keeps giving me this same error. I noticed it after an update several weeks (couple months?) ago. Due to physical limitations, I can’t reach the camera to remove the SD card. I tried format, cancel, & whatever the other options were when I hit format - nothing fixed it. I assumed it was a glitch post update. I also have to keep rebooting the camera and hoping it connects. Until this moment, I never considered the idea those things could be related.
Android, / cam version 4.50.16.6242
Cam V3
Firmware and iOS are same as listed
the issue has been happening for quite a while
OOOH, I just found this thread
This is the message I get also. I don’t use MicroSD cards though.
I have no other ideas but I would clear the app cache, pull the power plug on the camera then plug it back in and see if the issue continues. Good luck , maybe someone else that has had that issue will come along and give you better ideas.
My best guess is there is something in the microSD slot (including possible corrosion) causing something to short out. You could try getting a few drops of electrical contact cleaner down in there, or even just a bit of rubbing alcohol, followed by some compressed air. But corrosion can be stubborn and it is hard to get into that slot to clean anything out.
Something internal to the camera could have gotten water or corrosion in it too which is triggering this, since there are various spots on the main board that connect to the slot.
No, it’s the update. I connected a camera that has older firmware and only the updated cameras have the issue. This camera isn’t exposed to moisture at all. It’s in a humidity controlled room.
If you downgrade the problematic camera does it still have the issue? You mentioned it was just one doing it so the fact that other cameras with older firmware don’t do it doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
The latest firmware did address MicroSD issues so maybe there is some glitch when there is no card inserted, but you’d have to either downgrade that cam or upgrade one of the others to see.
I can revert to older firmware? Do you know how? It’d be interesting to see if that helps.
Yes, am familiar with that thread. That is not related to this issue (cam saying there is an SD card installed when there is not). That’s something unique to this user.
You’ll need an SD card formatted to FAT32 (32GB or smaller card, or you can partition a larger card to 32GB).
Note sometimes the instructions can be a bit confusing, you just want one FILE on the root of the SD card, named how the instructions say, no folders (I know some of them say folder instead of file by accident) and nothing else on the card.
There is the possibility that the cam was having and issue already and this new firmware which attempts to be more “aggressive” in recognizing SD cards just exposed it. In that case you’d also have to test upgrading one of your other cams to latest firmware too, doing both would be a good way to rule out all possibilities. Can always downgrade it after if needed using the same SD card.
