MFP doing what he does-Nothing

Yeah he came slinking across the street at 3:30 AM this morning, stopped at Weeds & Water to get a drink then wandered off again. He must have had high mileage paws installed.

I grew up with cats and I love them, as a matter of fact I love all animals but that’s another story. Cats are fascinating creatures and I bet that MFP is a stray cat judging by the looks unless the owner doesn’t take a good care of him/her. I doubt we really know MFP’s gender

I agree that MFP has a decent chance of being a stray.

Well, I guess the M doesn’t have to stand for ā€œMr.ā€

I think my answer is me too… But I’m sure there are some exceptions, especially depending on the definition of animal. I can’t think of any MAMMALS I dislike offhand.

I’m not fond of mosquitos or wasps/hornets though and I will always kill every single possible one I ever can. I’d turn them extinct if I could. I don’t mind courteous honey bees and bumble bees though (even though I’ve been stung and bitten by both of those too, they are reasonable 99.9% of the time).

Also don’t like sea anemones.
I bet there are a lot of sea life I don’t love.

I do love snakes, even though most people don’t. I have caught more snakes than I can count.

IDK there are quite possibly some other animals or forms of life I could decide I don’t love… But I am generally pretty lenient in loving most forms of life… So I think I tentatively agree.

I think you’re splitting hairs here my friend

My daughter and her boyfriend have two pet snakes, it’s beyond my comprehension, why?

  • Low maintenance
  • Fascination and curiosity
  • Feeding is interesting
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Don’t need much space
  • Aesthetics (beauty, unique appearance, decoration appeal)
  • Calming presence to some (some actually find them almost mesmerizing and meditative in the methodical way they move and flow like a lava lamp or fire or pendulum)
  • How it gets such a different reaction from people (it’s a feature, not a side effect)
  • Non-conventional is a huge plus to lots of people
  • Quiet and clean
  • Exotic appeal
  • Long lifespan for long term pet relationship

When I was in junior high I’d catch garter snakes and put them in other people’s lockers  or I put one in a teacher’s top desk drawer once.

I accidentally had some climb into the overflow drain of our bathtub, another through the drainage pipes over to my neighbor’s house and come up through their toilet. :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: Yeah, they called my parents asking why our snakes were coming out of their toilet. I totally unintentionally traumatized them from comfortably using their own toilets after that (Neighbor is also a distant relative… Though distant enough that we didn’t know them before moving into the neighborhood).

Ah, snakes… Good times. I wish Weeds and water got some snake visitors.

I love how everyone just spazzes out and loses complete access to their entire frontal lobe when I catch a snake and let other people hold it and show some brave souls that garter snakes are nothing to fear if you do it right (catch them right and handle them right). I’ve caught hundreds.

We also owned a ball python for a while until my daughter got bored of him. She loves to catch garter snakes and show them to people, especially adults that turn into toddlers around snakes.

You’d be amazed how awesome it is to take someone who has never seen a snake in person before, starts off completely terrified when they see it, then actually overcomes their terror to finally touch it then hold it and realize they can overcome their initial instinct on their own. It’s so amazing to watch that transformation in some people as they learn to trust you and master their internals to give it a chance to try this thing they have never considered and thought they’d never do and the excitement they get that they actually held a snake. It’s priceless. I’ve shared snakes with a hundred first time experiencers and it’s a priceless memory seeing that transformation in certain circumstances when they believe they will be okay and can do something they feel is brave for them and how much they radiate from the experience. That part of snakes is priceless. In a sense, who even cares about the snake? As an adult I love few things more than seeing a person go through that experience for the first time, for those who actually want to and how it makes them feel.

Obviously it doesn’t apply that way to everyone (There are definitely some people for which it’s no big deal at all, and other people who will be terrified no matter what, but I’m not talking about either of those kinds of people}, but for those who experience the unique transformation of a paradigm shift for themselves, and something they otherwise wouldn’t have tried by themselves alone, that is utterly fascinating. I got to experience that again this summer with my toddlers and with some friends when I caught a snake at my house while some friends were swimming in our pool. It was so awesome having some of them go from abject terror to hesitation to interest to fascination to turn their anxiety and fear into pure excitement, happiness and being proud of themselves.

You can’t get that same categorical shared experience with most other pets. :man_shrugging:

Well I’m not going to check.
We’ll just use ā€œMā€ Fancy Pants (Mr. or Ms.)
MFP used to have a routine schedule > show up at 5:00-5:30 PM and leave at !0:00 PM. Now the schedule is very erratic, all different hours of the day or night.?
He always goes the same direction when departing.

Uh oh…maybe he relapsed on the Catnip…he promised he was only going to SELL the merchandise, not partake and waste the profits.

Admiral: Why don’t you get a job, Fancy P?
Fancy P: What for?
Admiral: You need money.
Fancy P: All I need are some tasty scraps, a cool buzz, and I’m fine.

Must be. 1:06 AM headed in the wrong direction.

Away from your house is the wrong direction? I KNEW you loved him! He’s growing on you! Now you are starting to think that toward you and closer to your heart are the RIGHT direction for MFP to be.

The normal investigative route for MFP is to arrive from the North, do investigations and collect forced protection collections from other establishments and depart back to the North to where ever his secret hide out is. In the video he his headed South.
