Maybe one of the most annoying things about using the Wyze App is the “loading live stream” message when trying to view cameras and the slowness in making camera connections, which too many times never connect until you restart the app. Imagine the annoyance when something important is happening in the yard and u grab your phone to quickly see but, … “Loading live stream…”
I would bet many users don’t have the patience or technical aptitude to even think to restart the app. Even so, it’s very annoying to have to do that. I know many of my family just get so annoyed, they can’t bother trying. When users click, they expect things to work, unless there is a real exception. This hit or miss experience is just … poor. Surely some level of engineering can fix this. Comparing with Ring cams and even the el cheapo SightBulb from Home Depot, the hit or miss with Wyze is very noticable.
I can appreciate that perhaps Wyze cams are a more popular product and the resource requirements to provide the level of expected robustness is huge, but if that’s the case, scaling is😞. For now I resign to the fact that may be the case and that much better can’t be expected at this price point… one of those things? What you all think?
Don’t give up. My bar for reliability is very high. When I open an app I expect it to work reliably 100% of the time. I do not want to force a stop, restart the app, etc etc.
When 3x was announced the bar became very low. As a beta tester I expected problems, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Now for the good news. I can’t tell what app version you are on but Android b574 and recent b576 have drastically changed the landscape.
Before these beta releases many of us split our cameras into multiple groups. In my case no more than 5 cameras in a group. This reduced bouncing balls and loading live view errors to close to 0%.
With b574 and b576 I am able to run all 10 cameras in a group or all 10 cameras shown individually in Favorites. The results are excellent. The bar has been raised to high again.
b576 is a release candidate. If your not on beta stay tuned. Good things are coming.
Meanwhile–put your cams in small groups and see if that mitigates the bouncing balls and liveview error.
Thanks for the insight. I’m now running 3.2.5 (591).
I certainly hope this is finally the version series that addresses these problems because up to recently, I had a need to trigger the alarm & quickly speak via the 2-way audio on a cam & couldn’t get there in time. Most frustrating!
Hopefully this version is it because average users aren’t inclined to do quirky things like grouping cameras just to make things simply “work”.
But thanks again for the info & potential work around
Running latest app version, broke cams into smaller groups up to 4, using pixel 8a running late version android, network is Google mesh where all things are responsive and fast, yet, Wyze connectivity to cams are awful. Hit or miss, sometimes all ok, sometimes stuck until refresh or restart app.
Hard to believe it’s just me, but this is just unacceptable performance. I tolerate it because I have so many cams in the ecosystem. But it’s very disappointing since some of the more important times you need cams require immediate connection and if you are having to fool around to make the connection, its frustrating. And again, most people aren’t tech inclined to fidget around to make a connection. I think Wyze really needs to stop and address this once and for all. I wouldn’t care if 1 more feature got added for the sake of fixing this connectivity performance once and for all.
Yea im tagging any Wyze people I can find because I’m that frustrated. Hopefully one of you can raise the issue to the right department.
I don’t want to hear about contacting support or doing something special to make it work. The solution I thought I bought into is an app that connects to cameras and it at least do that well without jumping through hoops.
