Loss of Communication/Network Connection Notification & Log

I have a WYZE Plug Outdoor attached to an outlet in my garage. This Plug services 2 separate freezers. I use the usage data to profile the energy consumption of the combined load. However, I only look at it once or twice a week, at best. The breaker for this circuit is also a GFI. For some unknown reason, the GFI tripped and went unnoticed for several days… :sob:

While you are tracking down camera firmware bugs, please implement the offline notification with the ability to turn it on or off as necessary and have it support the different notification sounds of another wish. Hope you get it sorted soon! Thanks!

I would like to see a feature where we are notified when a camera loses or regains its power supply. This would let a user know if a certain amount of time was left without surveillance.

Did you ever end up setting up a solution of your own for this?

Looking forward to the potential of testing in a Beta!
Also I am curious how the offline status is shown in the app today, is it the camera checking in to cloud, or app pinging camera, or other direction?
Is the Sense Hub offline notification really that different in design and code workflow?
I also haven’t noticed anyone throw a wrench in this topic with concern for impact on battery life for the battery only devices
I know my router (Decos) can notify when a device joins or drops from network and these cameras can’t be sitting on a digital island without phoning home or they would not be able to wake up and send video when motion is detected etc.

Submitted log #1017768 to help with diagnostic data for offline but online cameras.

Yes, for all the reasons stated.

This would be a nice addition. Would help for mischievous teens who may be turning it off in the middle of the night

You know, I never even thought about that, which is funny because im guilty of doing it myself.

This would be very useful. One of my cameras decides to go offline every few weeks for no discernible reason. Would be great to get notified so I could manually unplug and replug it in until I’m able to replace it.

Notify us when offline

My cameras are constantly going offline (for no reason). Would be nice to receive some kind of notification when this happens. Hours go by before i notice. A notification from the app would be very helpful.

Since Wyze is trying to contain false alerts and that is taking too long perhaps they can add a beta opt-in for that feature for those who do not care if get false alerts as that is better than not knowing they are down.

  1. As a homeowner, I want to see a notification when I launch the app to show cameras that are offline, or the last time that they recorded an event so that I can take action to bring them back online.

  2. As a homeowner, I need to see how long a camera has been offline so that I can determine why it was off line, and what it might have missed recording.

  3. As a homeowner, I need to know when the SD card in a camera has failed so that I can fix that problem.

  4. As a homeowner, I need the option to select the mode(s) for notification (email, text message, et cetera) so that the notification appears where I am able to see it in a timely manner.

  5. As a homeowner, I need to see which cameras are operating inconsistently, and for how long, so that I can address causes and ensure continuous operation.

  6. As a homeowner, I will very much appreciate plain language explanations of errors rather than seeing error codes so that I don‘t have to find the explanation of Wyze‘s error codes.

Thank you. I hope that this is written plainly for your product backlog so that it is easier for your product owner to prioritize work on these tasks.

Seems this is a common request for a long time

Hello is there any way to know if a wyze camera goes off line due to wifi network failure? Like, will an alarm sound in the app if the camera link is lost? I use this as a baby monitor and sometimes my wifi drops out.

Wyze is currenlty beta testing this feature on select camera models with an app option, so hopefully it will be available soon. At the moment it seems like it needs to have some bugs worked out before launching publicly, but we’re looking forward to this being available.

I can’t believe this has not been fixed yet! My son is constantly pulling the camera power to hide his activities and I don’t know it’s happening until it’s too late to catch him.

This has gone on long too much. Time to find another camera.

Thats rough. I wonder if you could hide a battery pack to run the camera and have the plu from the wall run to that pack.

I could really use this power loss feature on the outdoor plug. At our brewery we have a lift station that plugs into a GFI outlet, there is another GFI outlet upstream of this one in a public bathroom, occasionally this indoor outlet trips (or someone presses the test button to trip it), thus killing power to the lift station outlet. It would be great if the wyze outdoor plug I have the lift station pump plugged into would send a loss of power notification to trigger someone to check the outlets.

I’ve been saying this for years and the only reason I’m even still subscribed to this thread is to know when this will become a feature. I have hundreds of clients that combined over the past couple years would have bought 1,000’s of wyze cameras but I have to suggest other camera companies instead because of this one issue.

I also have outdoor cams that periodically go offline. A base station restart fixes it, but an offline notification would be much appreciated.
