Even better if a camera has been offline for 5 to 10 minutes, it auto reboots. Since that is often all it takes.
Itâs really discouraging that this request has been here for years, and Wyze hasnât put the basic effort in to fix this obvious issue. Definitely making me feel like they donât care about customer needs. ![]()
I ordered a Wyze camera off Amazon will have it in a few hours for my apartment but I canât believe this isnât basic functionality for a security camera. Iâm returning and I stupidly assumed this functionality was there when I ordered.
I want to be notified when the camera is offline. Someone could have physically tampered with the camera.
Rather than put all of this effort into AI recognition, just create a simple heartbeat and notify when the camera is offline.
Itâs undergoing testing and working well for me so far using the latest beta Android Wyze app.
Push notification when a camera goes offline due to power failure
i would love if the cloud could remotely detect that it has lost connection to one of my cameras and send me a notification or email to advise of this. In the case of a power failure or problem with the camera. Of course if itâs because of a loss of power, likely my home internet is down too so it would have to be a notification sent by the wyze servers if they notice they have lost the connection to the camera. Maybe a type of polling. Maybe wyze servers already know if they no longer have an active link. This would avoid only finding out a camera is down some hours or days after the issue happened. Thanks
Detection of power outage
When power is cut to a Wyze device, would it be possible to get a notification through the Wyze App? Could there be a setting on a device, such as a camera, which would turn on polling of that device to see if it has power and if that device does not have power an app notification could be triggered?

loss of power notification
This seems like a no brainer and my VERY OLD dlink camera has this feature. It is super helpful to know if power went out in a vacation home or even a GFI or circuit breaker in your house when you are home.
Feature suggestion: Notify when camera is offline
Getting notifications when security cameras go offline is advisable due to several reasons. Firstly, it enables immediate action in response to potential security breaches or incidents, as the absence of camera footage could indicate a problem. Secondly, these notifications facilitate proactive maintenance and troubleshooting as camera downtime may result from technical issues or power failures. Timely alerts enable prompt resolution, ensuring continuous surveillance and reducing extended periods of inactivity. As a result, notifications for offline security cameras enhance overall security and surveillance effectiveness by enabling swift responses and uninterrupted monitoring.
A server side solution basically.

Anyone else with terrible support?
Have been using wyze products for close to 10 years now. Paying for cam plus for several years.
Support? NON-EXISTENT!
All I get is those AI canned auto-responses.
Sure it says itâs from a person, but itâs all copy/pasted information.
For the second time in less than a month, several of my FIVE Wyze cams went OFFLINE.
The bad thing about it?
NO NOTIFICATION OF THEM BEING OFFLINE!
You donât know until you hear something outside, bring up the app, to find them all being offline!
I have brought this to their attention for I believe more than a year⌠and today they tell me to go to the forum and submit a âwishlistâ item.
I went, and it doesnât allow me to submit those!
So⌠here is my note for them⌠and you!
If you WISH that a push notification would be sent to the app, whenever communication is LOST between the cameras, and the app⌠please ADD YOUR COMMENTS HERE!

It is amazing how Wyze canât take an ounce of criticismâ
The Product gets put out
We are the guinea pigs
support stops
repeat.
My favorite failure is the watch that was pre-ordered at 24 bucks and it was a $20 watch not a $75 dollar watch that was discounted for early adopters. It was garbage and it received 1 update. Mine fell apart and I asked for a warranty return and it was over 90 days, tough luck,
When my cameras fail I will replace them with any company that supports their product.
Yeah, I bought the watches. They tell time and your heartbeat. Was hoping for so much more, but in my opinion complete waste of money. Agree with you on the cameras!
Send an email alert when a camera or other Wyze equipment goes offline for longer than a certain period of time.
Other surveillance equipment providers do that, especially security devices, smart switches, cameras etc. It would be great if Wyze catches up and does it too.
For me it turned out to be crucial to the point that just for that alone I might have to switch a dozen of my cameras to a different product. One time when it was critical for me, it turned out that the cameras I needed were offline for many days and I had no way of knowing unless I checked. Itâs very very bad.
Other vendors have this feature and itâs very easy to implement. One way is through the account. Let every piece of equipment send some pings, letâs say every few hour or every hour or even every 5-10 minutes. If thereâs a missed ping (or two or three consecutive ones) send the email to the account owner.

Be careful what you ask forâŚ
I have my router ping each device every hour and notify me if any fail to respond. However I am not running a consumer grade router. If anyone is running a Mikrotik router and would like my pinging script, just ask.
Iâve been asking them for this for YEARS! And they keep ignoring it!
If they can send a notification when movement is detected, they should be able to send one when the app loses communication with the cameras!
Iâm curious whether it is technically possible to log events when power is removed from an OG Cam (no internal battery), maybe via IP connection/ping interruption or by âdying breathâ event reporting, or, by reporting the outage event/time when the camera is powered back on and restarted (internal logs).
Currently it is rather difficult to track down when power is interrupted to a camera, whether to troubleshoot an issue or to lay blame upon an individual for disconnecting the cameras (so they can do unscrupulous things). The only way I know is to look through the Continuous Recording SD card video to see when the last file was created to identify when the interruption occurred.
It would be rather nice to get an Event.
Do Wyze devices periodically âPINGâ Wyze servers every minute to announce they are online? Could we use these PING logs to detect when devices are unplugged and spawn an event log entry?
Email notification, Disruption in feed
Hello.
There needs to be an email notification sent to my phone every time there is a disruption in my wyze cam feed. This disruption could be a power outage, loss of internet connection, loss of video display.
Living in an apartment it is not at all safe while I am away due to the large amount of property staff that have access to the keys to my dwelling. A simple power outage and entry is possible without my even knowing.
As well as disconecting my internet and entering. This could be happening regularly without my even knowing.
This is a giant gap in your security system. This gap makes everyone of your users vulnerable.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Please take serious action to correct this error as soon as you can.

This has now been YEARS. There is NO WAY you guys have been working on this at this point. I have around 10 cameras for my business and YEPâŚONE WENT DOWN AND I DIDNâT KNOW AND WAS VANDALIZED AND HAVE NO EVIDENCE FOR THE POLICE. Thanks for the nonsense updates guys!
Yep, I have been waiting for them to update and BOOM my business is vandalized and the camera was down. CRAP customer service.
