Loss of Communication/Network Connection Notification & Log

it’s been just about a year…what is the update or did you guys just give up?

It’s possible…for whatever reason they won’t do it. Why should they? No additional money to be made with it. MEANWHILE… Cancelled my cam plus subscription. DOES NOT WORK. and their support? a bunch of AI monkeys with canned responses.
#budlight wyze

I can say this is definitely in-development, I do not have specific timelines but it is coming.

who cares by now? I’ve been asking for this for at least THREE YEARS! in development… WHATEVER! My next camera brand won’t have this issue!

I am sure many still care and would appreciate this being done. I understand that it took long enough that you have had to or intend to move on to a different brand. I hope you find one that meets all the things you want, but for the others who are still here we want to get this implemented because they still want it.

One of the major hold-ups in getting this done was a bug that caused cameras to appear offline even though they were online and working. We had to resolve that bug first or everyone would have been getting notifications their cams were offline when they were not. That would cause users to start ignoring the notification.

the only ones still wanting this, are the ones who only recently bought wyze, thinking it’s a great deal… just as I and many others have… YEARS ago.

And as others have indicated, any time we ask for support, all we get are canned responses, having US resolve the issue, with ZERO support from Wyze!

You guys will not get another dime from me after 15 years of my business… no more!

If Wyze wants to be a serious contender in the security market, it need some sort of notification when a device goes offline. If I have more than 10 cameras, I need to know that one has a problem that needs to be addressed.

It would be the worst situation if I need a recording, and it’s unavailable because the camera is dead.
I have the Cams Unlimited Plan.

Is this still in progress? any Wyze updates …

Each of my Honeywell baseboard thermostats informs me when they go offline and when they come back online by email and/or message.
his would really help for our Wyze devices.

Yes, we’ve had employees recently telling us publicly it is actively being worked on. The “in progress” status is correct.

This is something members of the maven team have actively brought up two employees when we’ve had the opportunity to talk to them. And as Carver said they have said it’s being worked on, although sadly we aren’t involved in everything

They’re probably doing some sort of internal testing or something along those lines. This is definitely one of those things you want to work right though so hopefully we don’t run into any bugs when it’s rolled out fully.

Notifications for disconnected/offline status AND notifications for reconnected/back online status

The app still works when camera is disconnected/offline… No reason an automation can’t send a notification when ‘camera offline’ and/or ‘camera disconnected’. I can’t hide where it is AND where it is plugged in for it to work properly. Can you really call it a security camera if there’s no warning of it not working?

This is a great idea! I would like to know if part of the home has a power outage, if someone cut the cord or a camera is unreachable for any reason.

Wyze does not need to know the reason - just that the camera has been unreachable more than a specific number of minutes.

Getting an email for something like this would be great!

Yes. I would like a notification if any of my cameras go off-line and again when / if they come back online

Mind boggling it takes 6 years to implement a “feature” that notifies when a camera goes offline. These are the types of things you just assume exist because it’s so simple. Not so sure if wyze was the right decision for me.

You’re absolutely correct. Six years for something that is not only essential for the end-user, but also something that should take a good development team only a couple of sprints to implement and fully verify.

I’m convinced that Wyze doesn’t care at all about this feature request or their customers’ legitimate concerns. Shane on them!

It is absurd that Wyze is positioning themselves as a security company when they don’t have a way to check if a component has failed.

How can you trust the system to ensure it is working as expected?

“Sorry, we didn’t call the fire fighters because the smoke detector had failed and there was no way to be notified about that.”
“The system did not know the burglar opened the front door because the sensor had failed and we did not know about that.”

@Wyze, you need to implement this immediately if you want to seriously be in security. I loved my v2 camera… until I decided to use them on a serious application to monitor my dad’s factory floor and realized there was no way to know when the camera is offline. Such a basic functionality and still not done.
(Basic as in “easy to implement”, and Basic as in “there is no way a security product does not have this”)

Nearly every user this needs this critical feature yet every update I see is “coming soon” over many years.

Hello! I noticed it’s been 5 years since this article. Do we have any traction on this at all for what’s going to happen with it? I really need this feature for an upcoming trip as it would be very very useful for all cameras around the house.
