That’s a nice gesture.

I agree. It reminds me of the Air Purifiers they reportedly sent to East Palestine, Ohio, and makes me think of another recent topic.

I was curious so even though it isn’t for me, I went and read the terms, etc.

I’m glad they said they are doing some verification [to prevent lying/fraud/abuse].

They are also limiting it to 3 cameras and not allowing resale, so hopefully this will reduce scammers, etc trying to take advantage of a charitable gesture.

It says they need proof of purchase, then hopefully (ie: my opinion of hope, I am not Wyze saying they will actually do this) they also verify the person was in the LA area and then ban the MAC address of the camera being replaced so people aren’t just pretended damage to double their cameras for free and keep using the replacements.

Props to Wyze for doing this to help people, especially since many of them will have insurance refusing to cover things that were lost like other people would normally otherwise be able to have covered with fire damage.

All for help Southern California fire victims. Live in Sherman Oaks CA. But was there any help for North Carolina victims?

I don’t know if they donated anything [in North Carolina], but I know they specifically gave a bunch of employees long periods of paid time off to help out over there.

@WyzeMatt was one of the employees all over the news over there doing tons of volunteer work and coordinating things and getting a ton done, which he wouldn’t have been able to do without Wyze’s active support. I would argue Wyze supporting Matt’s efforts over there alone actually helped a ton more people than replacing cameras will. But Matt would certainly know more about the North Carolina efforts than most people anywhere. He’s kind of been a hero over there in a lot of ways, so I’m glad Wyze supported giving him the freedom to do what needed to be done over there to help through that disaster.

I was unaware of any news coverage about @WyzeMatt, but I’ve wondered about how he might’ve been affected because of a :frog: post and his previous mention of one of his wife’s films (:frog: mentioned another, and I’ve watched both), set in Asheville.

Wyze has been incredible to Western North Carolina. They gave me multiple weeks off and have consistently supported my efforts to help people here. I spent weeks during Oct-Dec delivering RVs at night to people who were left homeless from the storm. I often left Wyze cams in the RVs, Starlink, etc just for safety.

We did also send 100 Air Purifiers to Los Angeles at the beginning of the wildfires, we literally opened up our warehouse and let people just come and grab them. I thought that was so awesome. I managed that whole thing from start to finish.

The leadership at this company has a big heart, if you see other areas where you think Wyze products would be useful, I’ll work my butt off to make sure it happens.

I am glad to see Wyze and their people helping both locations with more than just cameras. :+1:

Very cool, Wyze! That’s pretty “Stand Up” behavior for a company. I am impressed with your products and now I’m impressed with the company.

Did you do this for the folks in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee who lost their homes from Helene?
