Looking for input about our app - 3/18/2025

I went with A because it’s out of the way but accessible. B is in the middle where it could block the view of something. C would bury it in a menu and the less clicks to do something, the better.
BTW, if Wyze were truly looking for “our” opinion, they would have reversed the new layout. It doesn’t make sense for people with several cams to wait for them to all load when the app opens.

They gave us the option to have that disabled in the app settings by selecting “Condensed” and disabling “Autoplay Video Live Streams”.

These 2 features should be low priority and way down the backlog timeline. Spend the effort on something meaningful like enabling the ability for shared users to playback video from the SD Card. If they can’t playback recorded video, it defeats the purpose of sharing the cameras, especially for those of us who are trying to monitor 2 or more physical locations.

OMG! Thank you :+1:

You are welcome! :+1:

I think shared user permissions should be such that a shared user can’t turn on or off a camera without the OG activating those permissions. You might want to have a person to view a camera, but not want them ro be able to do anything beyond that or conversely you might want them to have full unlimited control or something inbetween on a per camera basis or global.

I think all the above are all the reasons Wyze is having such a hard time implementing this features. It is hard to impossible to please everyone. Sharing cameras is a deep rabbit hole in my opinion. In my case, I don’t share any of my cameras. I let my wife and my daughters have full access to the cameras by sharing my account credentials to both of them. If I don’t trust my spouse and my offsprings, who should I trust? This scenario might not work for everyone, but it works for me.

Features implemented don’t need to be used by you. You can share / allow whatever you want. That would have zero effect on someone else wanting additional features or lockdowns of shared cameras. I would never share an account on anything with anyone - it’s not a “trust” issue it’s a bad security process. I “trust” my wife and kids but finding out after the fact one accidentally turned off or on a camera when you needed or explicitly toggled it is too late. Especially when (in the case of Wyze) they can have an account of their own, and you “share” or “unshare” a device as needed which is super easy and prevents most issues.
Like “sharing” a camera to my relatives, my wife’s sister “shares” her outdoor cameras with my wife because she once fell outside. I’ve shared and revoked sharing.

Just because a feature exist, you aren’t compelled to use it. Just like life. If something is available to one person, doesn’t mean it’s useful or applicable to everyone else’s needs - it’s just there and useful for those that want / need with no negative skin off those that don’t. Like a store having 36 flavors of ice cream. I only like mint chocolate chip, the others are wasted features (not really).
I’ll bet most users don’t even share cameras, I have a few i don’t share, because who wants to look the inside of a dark shipping container or at a mousetrap.
Share - more granular and global control options on a per camera basis.

I totally agree with this, sometimes it’s hard to see some of the controls due to contrast or lack of contrast rather.

I would have to agree with that security practice. If something happens unexpectedly that causes an issue, I have no reason to blame or considering to blame others. It is more of taking ownership.

My daughter shares her business cameras and sensors with me. I can back her up if she is unavailable and something happens.

During the day, when she is at the shop, she has the door sensors send notifications because she is in another part of the building and wants to be aware that someone came or left.

I do not need to get the notifications then, because she is there and I am not. I would like to be able to turn off notifications to me for the shared cameras and sensors without affecting her notifications.

As an Android user, you should be able to do this via third-party notification interceptor apps:

Wyze should really build this as a native feature in its app, though, so that iOS users have the option, as well, and so that Android users don’t have to see a third-party solution.

I know that I’ve mentioned the Siren control a few times previously in this topic, and lately I’ve been seeing more comments in a potentially relevant topic:

I think some good ideas have been suggested in both that topic and this one:

If Wyze is considering moving the Floodlight control, then they should absolutely be giving the same consideration to the Siren control, especially for the sanity of so many Wyze customers who are the parents of small children.
