Looking for a dual usb power adapter

How is your plug holding up? I have a USB block attached to a bulb socket outlet thingy on my outside lamp with one camera plugged in and I’m thinking about adding a second camera. Do they run hot to the touch?

Summary: I am using 3 of these dual port USB power blocks, outdoors, with various combinations of V3, OG and Pan Cam V3 cameras, with combinations of factory USB cables, 20’ cables and 30’ USB cables, and they all work fine.

Details: I got the dual port USB blocks with the usb ports on the side, because I was concerned about how far out the cables would stick when plugged in. In retrospect, I had plenty of room in the covered outdoor plug boxes, to have the cables plug in to the top like a regular power block normally is.

Because they plug in to the side, I had to get some short 90 degree USB cable extension to prevent the cables from sticking out too far to the side to fit within the box cover and the female end of those 90 degree adapters don’t hold the male end of the USB cable very tightly, and this sometimes drops the power on one of those connections every month or so. If it were not for those short USB angled adapters, the dual power plugs hold the USB cable without any problem.

The dual USB power plugs I got provide 2.4 A total output, which gives basically 1.2 A per port. The original power block provides 1.0 A, so 1.2 A provides adequate power to both cameras.

One thing to watch for, is when using long USB cables or extension cables, because they tend to lose a bit by the camera end of the cable. I am using 20’ cables in both ports, and they provide enough power, and in one case I am use a 20’ cable in one port with a V3 at the end, and a 30’ extension with the factory cable in the other port with a Pan Cam V3, which cam with a 2.0 A power block from Wyze.

Both the V3 and the Pan Cam V3 run with the single 2.4 A dual power block with no problems, but I am probably pushing the limit on that one. I need to get one of those power consumption widgets, to see how much power the V3 and the Pan Cam V3 are using, so see how close to the 2.4 A limit I really am pushing it to.
