Latency doesn't look right. 360p 1080p 2.5k

Is it normal for 360p latency to be this high? Also no difference between 1080p and 2.5k.

Obviously not - that would be 7.6 days. Whatever you are getting that report from is in error.

 Wyze Cam on 9600 baud dialup

I don’t understand the negative time in the first image. Does that mean it’s reverse latency, like something from the future?

Like @K6CCC, I’d interpret that as unreliable data from whatever app you’re using.

This is the official Wyze 3.5 beta app. I have cropped the live view for privacy.

The data may be unreliable, but why only on 360p?

Could it be another potential indicator suggesting sophisticated packet sniffing or network intrusion?

** There is a suspected malicious actor employed by a major telecommunications provider in very close proximity who has all day and night to conduct unknown activities/attacks. At minimum, it appears they are passively monitoring network and device traffic to predict and track my movements and activities, such as Wyze app access and the specific camera being streamed at any given time. Evidence of jamming is also apparent, though obtaining conclusive proof is impractical. Victims are often dismissed as paranoid, and standard solutions (e.g., strong passwords, 2FA, WPA3, router restrictions, HTTPS-only) are ineffective.

Again, what are you using to display that data?

ā€œWhatever you are getting that report fromā€¦ā€

A: The Official Wyze App 3.50.

ā€œAgain, what are you using to display that dataā€

A: My android device.

It’s just a snapshot of the live stream feed. I tap the area circled in red and this data appears.

Beta apps have bugs. I would not spend any time worrying about it, if the video stream is fine and you aren’t having any issues, whatever latency it is reporting doesn’t matter.

How are you navigating to get this screen? I have never seen this screen and I’m on beta.

Interesting info if Wyze is producing it.

Its literally just the live stream page, with the events at the bottom half. Tap the name portion if the camera. I circled it in red.

I’m only on my 2nd cup of coffee but I cannot find what you are seeing.

Is the following screen where you are clicking from?

Thanks

By George it does! But note that the target to tap is not just anywhere on the name, it appears to be a small portion of the name where that works.

Never seen that before…

Nope, not an exciting image…

Another Wyze Easter Egg! Not working for me, must be an Android thingy.

I can’t find it. Tried on tablet with android 14 and phone on android 15. Phone has pen. Using pen tapped a hundred times all around cam name. Nada.

Probably left over test code. May be why OP is seeing nonsensical data. It’s good info if it worked and was accurate.

If it’s an Easter eggšŸ°ā€“it’s rottenšŸ˜

For me, it’s on the name, kind of by the little shield thats the trigger spot.

Thanks @ai.ya,

I’m tapping the area so much I’m going to wear through the screen protector :squinting_face_with_tongue:. There must be some condition or dependancy that makes it work.

I want the info it’s showing (and I’m to lazy to find 3rd party apps that will show the same). If I wake up in the middle of the night and am bored I will continue looking. I have a couple of test phones I’ll dust off.

Anyway, thanks for discovering it.

Doesn’t work on mine, but I’m not using the beta app. I suspect it may be something they use for testing and development that they forgot to remove before releasing the latest beta.

Where did that quote come from? Sounds like a couple of members here that are not ā€œstableā€ that have posted similar paranoid theories.

ISPs absolutely do capture and snoop traffic, so does the government. But they’re not sitting there at night hacking your wyze cams to watch you. Not to say there aren’t people out there that are capable of doing that, but the encryption and security protocols used prevent that the vast majority of the time (only if there is a breach or bug in the firmware/software does it potentially become possible). I do not have any cams in interior living spaces, if I did, they would be closed circuit cams with no direct internet access (and even then I probably wouldn’t). There is simply no way to 100% guarantee that internet connected devices (especially cheap IOT ones with video capability) can’t be breached ever.

But all of the above has no relation to what you’re seeing in that hidden diagnostic screen, which apparently is not accurate for 360P. I suspect that’s something used by Wyze when testing the software and they forgot to remove it before releasing the latest beta.

No problem! I had presumed it was a baked in feature I just didn’t know about.

Sorry its not working for you. It may be camera specific. Are you using the V4 cam?

Its not a qoute. I understand that I might be perceived as unstable, but I hope that my statements alone wouldn’t lead to such a conclusion. I am also aware that exploring such ideas can sometimes lead to being labeled as paranoid. Which sadly is more often than not, probably the case. However, legitimate claims from desperate folks seeking help are also swept under the same rug, dismissed or minimized. Abusive controlling individuals thrive on keeping victims confused unsure about reality.

I prefer to live in a world where practical things just make sense, and things can be explained logically for the most part. If am paranoid and unstable, I’d like to know for sure. Which is why I’m teaching myself about CLI, Kali, Kismet, Wireshark, and other tools. It’s a slow process, but so far, it doesn’t seem I am crazy
