Lack of support for 3rd-party integrations

New user. Bought the camera based on price without researching. First thing I found was the Firestick - Alexa ability. Unfortunately there is only one Firestick in the house. Every (TV) here is Google - Android and I don’t see any support so far. Also, Google Home on iOS shows 1 camera and “camera unavailable” But on my Pixel the Google Home camera works flawlessly. These limitations are causing me to pause buying doorbell and other cameras. They are losing business by not supporting platforms while trying to nickel and dime features that should be inherent.

You might want to check again. I have a “Google TV” and a “Chromecast” and a “Google TV Streamer” and both allow me to stream Wyze cameras through them. The Google TV in particular is great with this because it allows viewing everything in Google Home and so I just set my main Wyze cameras as favorites for easy access. It also allows me to install and use the Tiny Cam app to view 20 or more Wyze cameras all at the same time on the same TV screen!

Then if you have a Cam Plus Account Google will let you open the Wyze web portal on a browser and stream multiple Wyze cameras that way.

I don’t have any of the older “Android TV” systems so I can’t check that, but I have checked the other 3 and Wyze cameras will work with all the other Google TV streaming systems. If Google Home Streaming is working for you on your Pixel, then it should work on your Google TV devices too (Note there are people with problems initially linking up Google Home, especially on iOS [Google admitted this was a bug in their app], but if it works on Android/Pixel, then the link is there and it should work on Google TV for you).

Now that you know it’s possible, I hope you can figure it out because I can confirm that the capability is definitely there for you since I use it all the time (just streamed Wyze cameras to my Google TV this afternoon). Best of luck :+1:

I just checked and it looks like Google TV is no longer compatible with Wyze app 3.3.0, only the older versions.

I have that, been wanting to play around with it but never got the time. The original objective is to install the Wyze app on it. Seems only Wyze app v2.50 is compatible. Maybe I’ll try tinycam pro next time.

If you’re interested in removing software bloat on the device, see Android TV Tools.

That’s weird because I also have a Hisense TV and it’s working on mine

Yeah, see if you can relink the integration or log out and log back in or something. I don’t know, It should work. It’s working on mine. I’ve never tried to clear the cache on a TV app, but that might be worth trying too.

You could always try using a browser going to APK mirror, downloading a newer wyze app and sideloading it. At least, I’ve done that in the past with other Android based devices that didn’t show the wyze app as available on them.

I already did that. It’s a no go.

Wow. I’ve never known sideloading to not work before. That sucks.

I did read something about how Android is going to make changes soon to force apps to be more adaptable including force, full landscape compatibility, etc. it might have been for something related to Android 16. I can’t remember for sure, but Android 16 might end up solving a lot of these compatibility issues if they’re going to force as apps to be more adaptable. That doesn’t really help right now though.

No, sideloading works, But it won’t sideload the latest Wyze version. Must be because of the hardware used by ONN 4K Pro. It’s looking forARM V7xx and Wyze app 3.3 is V8xx.

?

Wow.

Have anything against Hisense?

It’s :poop:

I have a 45"4K UHD at the cottage, it’s Roku TV with all the streaming services preinstalled plus Plex Media Sever. Has served me well so far. By no stretch it is as good as Samsung. LG or Sony, but for the price can’t complain. I am thinking to replace it with a 75" pretty soon

As you often say, “I am only expressing my opinion.”

I definitely prefer to buy a good TV like a Samsung 4K UHD, Sony or LG. I just want the best for my viewing pleasure. I added a Roku unit to the TV.

A friend had Hisense and he had nothing but issues. The clarity was not impressive when it did work.

Cheap is a good option for some things. Not for TVs and eye glasses. Again, IMHO.

Nothing wrong with expressing opinions.

Same here, I have two Samsungs 4K UHDs at home. At the cottage I only watch TV when the weather is bad and maybe an hour before bed. That’s why I opted for a cheap alternative. It was the fraction of the Samsung or LG. As for the quality, I was impressed with it as it is a tad worst then my Samsungs at home, and as I said haven’t had any issues with it. Maybe your friend got a dud.

The Hisense now is not the Hisense from back then. Bang for buck they are almost unbeatable just like TCL and Vizio couple years ago. On a budget they make perfect sense. Samsung, LG and Sony’s mini-LED and LED TVs in general are significantly more expensive with lesser local dimming zones. You usually have to opt for the highend models for those brands to see the quality or opt for OLED, but not everyone likes OLED due to potential burn-in and weaker brightness levels (really depends how bright your room is).

TCL is so cheap in price, I was not ready to take a chance. Vizio is very good as a secondary TV. My dad likes his Vizio.

I like Samsung since it works so well with my cellphone and tablets.

Welcome to the Forum, @mitch.mintz58!

This seems to be a longstanding issue with iOS users of the Google Home app, and there are several relevant Forum topics discussing it, though I’m unaware of any resolution so far. My experience with Google Home on Android has been hit-or-miss. Often the cameras will load, but it’s a laggy load, and using the Wyze app tends to provide the best experience.

I’ve had a fairly solid experience with Google Home and my Hisense TV (running Google TV), so I’m not sure what’s going on with your particular setup. In fact, I’ve been able to use a Google Home Mini in the same room as the Hisense TV to ask Google Assistant to show me a doorbell feed from a different Google Home Household (where I was a member) to show video from a (non-Wyze) camera, and that worked better than I expected.

My Google Home experience isn’t flawless, and sometimes I have to ask twice to get a camera to show on the TV, but it’s generally pretty good and even works with Google Home routines to show video triggered by Wyze Automations. The Wyze Cameras generally play nicely with a Chromecast device and a Google Home Hub (1st Gen), as well.

I recently noticed on the Chromecast (and then on the Hisense TV) that a Google Home tile is now available in the  Settings, which is cool, because now I can use the TV remote’s D-pad to load cameras and turn lights and fans on and off without talking to Assistant (and possibly be misinterpreted). Maybe see if your TV’s OS/apps have updates available and reboot if you haven’t done that recently? That’s where I think I’d start troubleshooting.
