This depends on your definition of “work”, I think. If you could provide detail about what you’re trying to accomplish, then I think that might guide others in assisting with suggestions.
Does this work with any other non-Google door cams?
I do have similar automation working on Alexa & speakers.
I have been waiting over 3 years for responses / updates / upgrades from Google on Nest cams. I gave up and bought Wyze which does much of my requirements.
Like you, I’ve been trying to get my Wyze cams to stream on iOS Google Home app. Google supposedly has a ticket open on this, but it’s impossible to get an update from Google.
I can see my Wyze cams on Google TV but not on Google Home app on iOS.
On Google TV I say “show me wyze front yard on family room tv. “
By being able to see my Wyze cams on Google TV, this confirms that Google can get at the cam stream but just does not want to make it available on iOS devices??
As @tc10 indicated, this has been problematic with the iOS Google Home app. It’s even spotty on Android, which is what I use, but there are several Forum topics about how streaming video from Wyze Cams into the Google Home app for iOS just doesn’t work at all and hasn’t for a long time, so if that’s what you mean, then you’re probably out of luck for now.
If you want to stream on other Google Home connected displays, however, that’s doable. I’ve had good results streaming Wyze Cam video to a Google Home Hub (Gen 1), a television running Google TV, and a Chromecast HD, which leads me to this:
I noticed several weeks ago that the Chromecast and Google TV both have a Google Home tile that’s accessible from the Settings menu (like, when you hit the gear button on the remote, the pop-down from the upper-right corner shows a Google Home tile). I can navigate to that and control some devices with my TV remote, including selecting cameras to stream.
Wyze doesn’t do this. I don’t know which doorbell model you have, but this was one of the things I was looking forward to doing with Google Home Mini speakers when I got my Video Doorbell v2. Then people started complaining that the integration wasn’t working, so Wyze changed their public messaging about that, including this Help Center article:
Because of that, a lot of people use a work-around in order to get a doorbell button press to trigger another Wyze device and then have Google Home recognize that as a trigger to kick off other actions:
I wish I had a better answer for you than that. Hopefully that’s at least a little helpful.
