Is It Even Worth Buying Wyze Cameras Any More?

Right before my post with a link for a $55 V3. Just posting that you could get it for a better price

Of course if you don’t like the V3 or a better price you could always just ignore the post. [mod edit]

Its still cheaper to buy it direct from wyze

No it’s not!

I initially got sucked in with the cams. It was a good hook. And there have been some minor improvements with the hardware, there’s no denying that. The thing is, now there are other companies coming out with lower price point cams. Are they also going to try to sweep the smart home market? Hard to say, but, the main issue for me now is the app that controls, well, everything WYZE releases.

I understand developing an app in this area can be tricky when you are adding new products to control at blinding speed, but it would seem to me that if a company knows it’s going to be doing this, if this is their agenda, then, make sure you have coders that can not only keep up with the slew of products being introduced to the app, but also the many iterations of each OS they are coding for. And in this regard, WYZE is very much showing its lack of coding proficiency. I work with coders, I know they treat code as their baby, and I also know they can get their feelings hurt quicker than a toddler when anyone suggests that something isn’t up to snuff. But, man, the app is just SO FAR behind with regard to iOS/iPad OS it’s not funny now. Seriously, I ONLY use WYZE cams, nothing more, and the app is NOT something I want to load up to check if a package has been punted onto my front porch or if a skunk is in the back yard. The app NEEDS a serious overhaul and I don’t think I am speaking just for iOS, as I have seen complaints from others in the other eco system.

What it comes down to is, is the cheapest you can get all this, cams and memory cards, worth the possible headaches? If not, show them: Either by specifically emailing and hopefully someone will read it and ‘pass it on’ … or, just go with one of the many other companies pushing out products similar in nature to what WYZE is providing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. As someone who depends for safety and security for my elderly parents on these little cameras there really is not much better replacement. My initial post/thread describes my situation and how much these cameras have helped me.

Speaking of going the wrong direction: I bought the hand held vacuum as an early adopter. It makes a lot of noise, but moves only a tiny amount of air, so is almost useless. Another design flaw is that the exhaust points back toward where you are trying to clean (!), blowing dust around! While it looks nice, functionally it is junk. Wyze says it “doesn’t have the resources” to keep updating the RTSP software for the cameras. That’s because they are wasting their time flooding their store with pre-alpha quality junk.

I had the same piece of crap,I put mine in the trash,it’s so bad I did not even give it away or donate to good will…what a piece of crap and Wyze would not even take it back so I had my cousin who’s an attorney to file a suit against wyze, and it’s board of directors…

Just bought and installed 2 V3’s on the front of my house and they both seem to have a mind of their own. Both have decided they no longer want to record events. That was the entire point for me. So a total crash on the 4th night is not good in my books.

First impressions, No it is not worth buying Wyze.

@janesy

Are you recording to SD cards or are you using CamPlus?

If you are only using SD cards then did you use cheap ones?

I first used some cheap class 10 cards and they didn’t last very long before they stopped working so I replaced them with SanDisk 32gb High Endurance ones and they are still working fine after several months.

I’m still learning this forum. I started a thread about my issue.

I am using SanDisk SD card. They are recording footage fine. But not registering event or sending notifications.

For clariftcation, the front camera is recording constant to the SD. The back camera is recording only events to the SD .

Neither have recorded an event and sent a notification at all. In fact I just walked in front of it to trigger it now, and nothing. But it did record me

Have you got notifications for each camera switched on in the app?

From the homepage tap a camera and on the next screen tap the gear icon at the top right.

You will then see “notifications” on the next screen. Tap it and switch everything on.

Do this for each camera.

The above is for Android - I assume iOS will be similar.

Horn. Why don’t you stop posting the same s*!T, OVER AND OVER. Why don’t YOU move on and let the people have their frustration. Just because your on your knees for wyze products don’t mean you have to keep posting your opinion for them to move on.

I also agree. And if you go back in the forums I said this would happen. Most of the stuff wyze sells is rebranded China junk. I have most of it already with other Chinese names on it. So yes… they have spread themselves way too thin. I too am actively moving to another platform. ( no need to comment horn)

resist, you Seem to be Very Opinionated!! [Mod Edit] it seems as if you choose to degrade anyone who Doesn’t agree with YOUR stance on the WYZE cameras, or maybe YOU actually work for wyze, and feel the need to denigrate anyone who THINKS for themselves!
I agree with the comments about how wyze seems to have chosen the path of least expense, when it comes to providing Quality products
I have gone back and forth with wyze for almost 3 months, without getting ANY satisfaction to the MULTIPLE camera issues I’ve experienced with 3 of the 8 cameras I purchased, They REPEATEDLY ask the SAME questions, to which I continually give them answers, all to NO AVAIL. They sent me an e-mail that CLAIMED they were going to REPLACE One of my “3” FAILED PTZ cameras, but it NEVER ARRIVED!! Even when I provided Multiple ways for them to contact me, including my Phone Number, they couldn’t be bothered. I suspect their “TECH SUPPORT” is nothing more then some people sitting behind a computer screen, perhaps still in their PJ’s, in Daddy’s basement, somewhere totally UNABLE to effectively resolve CLIENT ISSUES WITH ‘THEIR’ PRODUCTS :frowning:
Repeatedly I asked for SOMEONE to just CALL me, to resolve even ONE of the FAILED CAMERAS, but NOOOOOOO, they Just couldn’t be bothered!!
Just because you haven’t yet had these Issues that many of us have had, you might want to keep Your opinions to yourself, because Your day of Problems WILL COME, and then you will feel just as disheartened as many of us now feel!
Although I own about 8 or 9 of their products, I’m doing my Best to Discourage any of my Law Enforcement Brothers/Sisters from Wasting their hard earned $$$$$$ on WYZE products, and they’re listening!!

I made the MISTAKE of buying yet Another one of their cameras, this time it was a V3, which SUPPOSEDLY has GREAT NIGHT VISION, in FULL COLOR. BULL**IT!!! The Color on the V3 is absoluely NO BETTER than the V2 was, but I didn’t learn that FACT until tonight, when I hooked it up. It DOES NOT SHOW ANY COLOR AT ALL!!!
Maybe I Just got a ‘defective’ camera, A G A I N, along with the other 3 PTZ’S that stopped working!!!

D O N’ T Continue wasting your $$$$$, unless you like throwing it away!!! You’ll get NO Help from their So Called "Tech (less) support!! I spent over 3 MONTHS of Constant E-Mails, back and forth with MULTIPLE People there, trying to get them to Replace ANY of the 3 PTZ’S that quit working, all without getting ANY of them swapped!! One e-mail even CLAIMED that they were SHIPPING me a Replacement camera, but here it is, MONTHS LATER, and it Still has Not arrived, and I Don’t believe it ever will.
They are NOT a Company that HONORS their promises!! Proceed at your own PERIL.

Interesting we have 22 V3,5V2,and 4 PTZ,and 12 of Wireless outdoor cameras and have them at 4 sites and had no issues at all,we are replacing the rest of the V2 with V3 and some with spotlight kits watching all gates, and yes all cams have sd cards and cam + and there is a big difference in the color, zoom, nite viewing on the V3…

For color night vision to work, you need to have IR and (normal) night vision turned off. Did you do that?

What is your problem? You dislike Wyze as much as I do right now, because of camera issues. There was no need to make a political attack on me. Wyze used to be a great company and I told many of my friends about their cameras. But then they started cranking out one new product after another and their customer support started going downhill. Then the bugs in their software kept getting worse with each update. And they’d release a new product as and upgraded product shortly after a previous product release, not supporting that first product anymore. Wyze seriously needs to get their head out of their a** and get back to the basics. Simple inexpensive products, great customer support and quality software. Technology is catching up, bringing prices down and Wyze will be left behind if they don’t wake up. Stop making new products, focus on fixing current products, fix the software and customer support! Until they do this I won’t recommend any of their products to anyone I know. I want to like Wyze again, I really do. But I won’t be a loyal customer when they lose their way.

I’m fine with products that are part of the camera/security ecosystem, but am disappointed with them using resources on unrelated products like vacuum cleaners, scales, headphones, earbuds and watches.
