IOS - MY WYZE v3 CAMERA IS STUCK ON FIRMWARE 4.36.9.139
I can’t update either through the app or manually.
The app says that everything is fine and that the camera is up to date.
Manually, I download the firmware, rename it to demo_wcv3.bin., put it on the memory card; unplug the camera’s power cable; I put the memory card in, press the setup button and at the same time plug in the power cord until the light flashes blue once… I’ve done it more than 10 times and nothing happens… (https://support.wyze .com/hc/en-us/articles/360031490871-How-to-flash-firmware-manually)
Most of my v3 cameras are still on 4.36.9.139. Only one v3 updated to 4.36.10.4054. All of my v3 cameras are operating they way I want. Are you having problems or missing some functionality with 4.36.9.139?
Last October, November and December, Wyze released v3 updates that created problems for my cameras. I am glad to see Wyze do a gradual release to the 4054 firmware.
I have had some cams not want to take a flash as well. I had one brand of cheap SD Cards that absolutely wouldn’t push a flash. Something about the cheap format on it.
Now, I have several name brand SD cards that are reserved only for that purpose because they work for me.
Make sure it is a completely blank 32GB FAT32 SD card that has been freshly wiped with no other files on it. I also recommend a cam factory reset with no SD in it immediately prior to flashing.
All of my V3 cameras have been operating on FW 4.36.9.139 since May 19, 2022, the day following the release of that version of FW. The Wyze IOS App continues to report that this is the most recent FW for each of those V3 cameras. However, since May 2022 four new FW releases have been announced with the latest being 4.36.10.4054. This seems to be a VERY SLOW rollout of V3 FW.
That is because every attempted rollout version has exhibited problems that could not be overlooked and was halted. This newest version release isn’t looking any better. Many reports of cams not taking the update and requiring flash recovery.
