For those wondering what the difference is between the non-plus version And this one for about $30 more, this is what I see so far:
This new version adds a new body metric that the other scales don’t have yet: Subcutaneous fat
- “Subcutaneous fat is the adipose tissue stored directly beneath the skin. It serves as an energy reserve and provides insulation. However, excessive accumulation is linked to higher risks of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular issues.”
It also has the display on the handle so that it is easier to read without having to bend down etc. And the batteries go in the handle instead of the bottom of the device.
I believe they also updated the user interface (though probably no dark mode).
Everything else seems pretty similar to the non-plus version of the Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Which is my favorite scale so far. I guess we can ask some other questions in the AMA later this week to see if there are any other differences that I missed. The advertising does seem to imply that there might be improvements in precision and such, but that same professional grade precision might also apply to the non-plus version and be referencing the multiple electrodes.
For anyone who hasn’t tried the body scan scales before, they are awesome. I can’t ever go back to regular smart scales anymore. These things are amazing and worth the extra cost for the handlebar electrodes IMO. If you’re trying to save money they do have multiple options:
- Wyze Scale BodyScan $84.98
- I tried this one. And it’s okay. I like it better than the regular scales that don’t have the handlebars, and this is the cheapest one that does have the handlebar electrodes, but I personally strongly prefer the ultra version instead.
- Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan $119.98
- My favorite scale so far. Worth the extra cost IMO.
- Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus $149.99
- This new scale launched today (10/19/26). Very similar to the non-plus version but with a better display and a new extra body measurement and improved UI. Possibly slightly improved precision?
I would say those are the top options If you care about body measurements. If all you care about is weight, then just get the cheapest smart scale. Even their first original scale was among the best overall including accuracy when run by third party testing comparisons and the body measurements are still pretty great even Though they are limited to foot electrodes only.
