I can add some limited clarification: It is true they are no longer a Matter member (Matter requires ongoing membership fees, and it is a pointless waste of money to pay those if you aren’t currently licensing anything for Matter yet, so it made sense to stop paying the membership fees unless/until they start supporting the standard).
It is not so much that they have no plans to support Matter, but that they can’t really make plans for it (with the cameras) until the standard is actually decided on. So, it is more along the lines of that they are waiting for the next Matter version to be released (supposedly CSA indicates that may be by early 2025), and then they can review the requirements and then have the ability to decide how to move forward. They previously indicated they won’t make any decision on Matter for any of their products until after the Camera libraries are finalized. Then they will review their options.
Hopefully we’ll get more information shortly after the next Matter version launches. But even then, they usually have their roadmap scheduled 6-12 months out, so it’s possible it will take them until mid to end of 2025 before anything happens because they’re presumably already scheduled out that far for what they’re going to do.
I’m actually reading that the matter camera libraries may have even been delayed by the CSA AGAIN.
Either way, the next AMA after it launches, we’ll be asking a ton of questions about their matter plans! I’ll probably go ask some about it this time anyway.
Hi, @ntchrdr , I am MJ, a wyze engineer. I am so glad you asked this question.
Yes! We designed this feature.
The removable battery supports charging inside the doorbell when the AC power cord is properly connected. Charging current: 70mA; Charging time: approximately 3-4 days.
That’s fantastic! I love that we can either use it with the battery alone or choose to wire it WITH the battery to have “battery backup” on our doorbell (assuming we also use battery backup on our router/modem too, which I do), or we can take the battery out while it is wired and save the battery to use as an extra battery with our Battery Cam Pros to easily swap out for a new charged one immediately. That is awesome.
Free shipping is for orders over $79, so it’s automatically free shipping on the new Duo Cam Doorbell and anything you order with it, but not necessarily for EVERYTHING unless you order at least $79+ worth of stuff.
Edit: I’m actually seeing everything shipping for free in all my tests, even for less than $79, see below
Yeah, that DOES seem to imply EVERYTHING should have free shipping.
I’m going to pass this feedback on to some employees, because I agree, I would’ve assumed that meant free shipping on everything during the week. It should be more clear if that wasn’t intended.
Edit: I am actually seeing everything ship for free even though the notice says $79, see below for an example of the FLv2
There is a silver version, but it won’t be released until later (possibly early 2025). There is no mention of any other color besides Black and Silver.
Thanks. Have a Ring doorbell that works but the PC desktop browser interface was so horrible that I discontinued the subscription so doesn’t record videos. Its one good feature is that it is white… Wish its cover would fit over a Wyze doorbell!
You. Are. Welcome. Seriously though, the chances of that getting overlooked is minimal. I use the portal often as do many others because it’s VERY useful so I would be willing to wager that the Dev’s did to. I
Please contact support about this issue and let them know it charged you for shipping and see if they’ll credit you back for it. If they don’t, please give me your Support ticket number and I will personally try to escalate this for you. You might be able to afford it, but it’s about more than that. I wonder if the $15 coupon code you entered is causing a conflict with the free shipping code. It can’t hurt to have someone check.
