Inaccurate weight in new ultra

My new Ultra is probably the most inaccurate, inconsistent scale I have ever had the misfortune to own.

It is on a ceramic floor so not in a soft service. The original Wyze scale I bought when it first was introduced work’s perfectly. This one never gives the same weight twice, not even close. I just did another test of stepping on the scale for the weight cycle, then off. Wait just a moment then step back ion for another weight cycle. I also weighed myself on my old first generation Wyze scale which does give the same weight when tested as the Ultra. The Ultra was first 5 and a half pounds high. Then 3 pounds high, then about the same as the original scale then 4 pounds high. Something is intrinsically wrong with its software. I am debating returning it as it certainly can’t be trusted?

It’s possible the one you got is defective. You could contact support about it.

I will say that what you are describing could technically be indicative that the Scale Ultra is more accurate, rather than less. I know that sounds ridiculous, but if you’re curious why I say that, you can read a more detailed explanation here:

I don’t know if or which Wyze scales may use a sort of anchoring or averaging or not, or to what extent. But I do know that the accuracy tolerances for both the original scale and the Ultra are close to the same.

I should mention I am not experiencing these large fluctuations on my Scale Ultra when I step on it multiple times though, so it is possible that you have one that simply has a problem. So I personally would recommend that you contact support because if this was common with the scale Ultra I would’ve expected to have it happen to me too and it’s fairly consistent for me, like never off by more than a couple tenths of a pound at most. So if you are getting over 5 pounds fluctuating, that is worth calling support about.

Excellent, excellent read. Thank you!!

I did the procedure of a scale reset and it has given almost the same weight three times in a row. Perhaps it is now working correctly. I’ll see over the next couple of days.

Oh good. Hopefully it just needed to recalibrate.

I would certainly be stepping on it a couple of times and testing against my other scale for a while in your situation. Let us know in a few days if that seems like a good fix so we know it’s a good recommendation to others in the future too.

I have given up on it. I brought my balance beam scale back into the bathroom as the new Ultra is all over in what weight it displays. Occasionally correct but step off, let it power down and step back on. The weight can be 5 or 6 pounds different. My original Wyze scale is still close to what the balance bean says.

@pianolist,

More and more it looks like you may have a defective unit. Mine has been running since 11-1. Following screen shot shows last week or so. It is not scientific. I may have had shoes on or off, any time of day, etc etc.

I still have the old wyze scale next to the ultra and every time I weigh the ultra I also weigh on the old one. I have only seen a 1/2lb variance.

Send it back.

Next question then: how do you contact them for a return? They seem to have insulated themselves from the public effectively. Nothing I can find in my orders to request a return?

I agree with @ronl4625 that it sounds like a defective unit. My Scale Ultra is pretty consistent. I’m not having weight swings like that.

I printed the return label and it is ready to be dropped off at the post office tomorrow. I am deciding if I should try again and order another one?

I do like the features. It is much easier to read than my original Wyze scale and I like that I don’t need the app open to also take my heart rate.

Yeah, it’s a shame yours was fluctuating so wildly for you. I’ve also been loving not having to open the app. I like it so much more than I realized I would. I can understand your hesitation.
