All of Wyze’s Video Doorbells have supported this, and I expect they always will.
Wyze has said it will be possible in the upcoming future to be able to use the USB plug on the back of the Wyze router to store footage from cameras to a local USB connected Harddrive, but that will go through USB-A, not Micro-USB, so I am assuming you actually meant MicroSD card storage? There has been no word about this anywhere yet.
Wyze rarely gives a timeline on upcoming products.
However, just a few days ago, a Wyze employee publicly asked on Facebook whether users would be more interested in:
A: Dual camera doorbell, main camera 3 Megapixel (2K, 2048x1536), bottom camera seeing packaging on the floor, MSRP $80;"
B: 4 Megapixel (2K, 2000x2000), FOV 145x145, see packaging on the floor, MSRP $74.
Which I only say to point out that Wyze is indeed looking into making a new Doorbell, but which also indicates it is still in research & development, thus you probably shouldn’t count on it being released really soon. Wyze has not given any other information about anything they are considering related to a new doorbell or if it will come to market. In fact, the employee explicitly said
Please note that the results of this survey do not guarantee that the product will make it to market.
So the short answer, is no, based on statements from just a couple of days ago, Wyze cannot/will not give us a timeline on a new doorbell, and certainly not whether it will include microSD card storage. That would be a good question to ask in the next AMA event though. They will often answer random things like this in those events. If someone reminds me the next time one is coming up, I will even ask it…I’ll basically reference the post that Wyze indicated they’re working on a new Doorbell and ask them if they are considering a MicroSD card in this one this time because lots of us, including myself, have been REALLY wanting one so that we can do continuous recording when it is wired. I would like that too. I’ll be happy to push that, as I have done since the day the first one launched.
