I would never buy another product from wyze

I cannot recommend this company anymore. They have consistently gone back on things that are promised. I have been a long time supporter. But there is no reason a camera needs cloud access if you have a microsd or like me and many people the use they own computers to record locally. I have 5 cams no that are nothing more that a paperweight as they have to connect to their cloud service to work otherwise they keep rebooting. This is very dishonest and shady practices.

Can you post links to the promises they broke or where they were dishonest?

I would have to go back and look . But when the v3 and v4 both where told to have rtsp the v3 did and my cam finally got those updates and they killed those and they told me not in the works anymore for v4. I record locally and they also don’t need cloud service but Wyze now makes them have them even with a sf card I them. Other wise they keeps rebooting their WiFi to try and connect every 30 to 60 second.

The v4 RTSP firmware is currently in beta and you can install and test it. I’m sure there are some bugs that need to be polished but hopefully the final firmware will be out soon. The v3 and Panv3 already have production RTSP firmware.

Nobody ever promised that RTSP or SD card would eliminate the need for internet, at least not that I’ve seen. These cams are not capable of functioning without connectivity to the cloud servers.

The rep I talked to yesterday told me they have kicked it. Their newest firmware got rid of rtsp as well on the v3

I feel like you don’t understand the technology. There are massive threads on RTSP here. Nothing has been removed. They just introduced RTSP for the v4’s. SD Card access has not been taken away. The cameras have ALWAYS required internet to access them.

Literally everything you are saying is demonstrably false.

That’s crazy since my v3 don’t support after they finally got that firmware in February. And two days ago after the update gone. I also called in and they told me they are removing it from the v4s as well. And I didn’t say they took the sad card away. What I’m saying is there’s no reason for them to have cloud service after their initial setup. I’m running frigate. My other cams only work internally. They also did require internet to set them up. After that they can’t reach it and they work just fine. I also have a v4 cam and it does not have rtsp either. Or an update on that firmware

Here is the thread on RTSP for v4: V4 Cam RTSP Update

The amount of people that come in the forums and say that a support person said they are “removing” something is mind-boggling to me. Spoiler, nothing you said has happened or is going to be happening.

I think you should post your setup for your RTSP recording and have others help you troubleshoot it. There a ton of people running RTSP using the v3’s and now they are using the v4’s.

Which means your setup is wrong and NOT the firmware as you state. People are actively using it right now. Post your issues, those here will help you.

Otherwise, your posts are not true and your protests are falling on deaf ears.

They killed rtsp on the v3 t3 of my 5 updated firmware and they have removed rtsp. And when they did work they had to have outside internet to still function. My other cams do not as I have them in the same vlan and they work with no problem. The Wyze ones would keep trying to connect and restart their WiFi and that would cause them to stop recording locally. Which is the reason they don’t need cloud service.. also if that’s the case on the v4 they should probably get better at training cause I talked to three different people and they all said they same thing. They are getting rid of was what they all three said to me. So unless they have no idea how to train people. I would not and will not recommend this company anymore. I have many of their devices since the og cams including v1 doorbell

Not true. On your V3 → Go to your Advanced Settings → RTSP

Sitting there, plain as day. I can only explain it to you. I can’t understand it for you.

For myself, the early Wyze cameras definitely had a certain life expectancy, and I was constantly buying and replacing cameras. Then, gradually over time, the problems became less and less till now, with 9 cameras ringing my house for a combination of security and cat capturing shenanigans, I’ve had no problems. My Wyze stick vacuum still sucks, however  .

Garbage products

Rust suddenly real quiet…

Same here. 23 cameras, 21 lights, motion sensors, contact sensors, lock, and vacuum. All working great. Still have a v2 that works. My Pan v1 just died last year.

I just don’t have the massive issues that some people talk about. I have good Mesh Networking though.

Yes they were setup with rtsp already. A couple updated there firmware and that setting is not there anymore. Made it really easy to tell when those went dark on frigate. I also tried resetting the cam. The option is not there anymore. Wyze has offered me a whopping 30 store credit. So yes it’s gone and Wyze supports knows this.

You are the only person reporting the setting has been removed.

Well maybe they are rolling it out slowly. The other cams on the older firmware still have rtsp.

Did you previously have the very old RTSP firmware and/or a beta RTSP firmware? If so you may need to update the cam to the latest firmware using the SD card method. The old RTSP one will not update to the newest firmware “over the air”.

It would not surprise me if an APP update removed RTSP support for that very old (insecure) firmware, since they now offer an official, secure, modern one. That’s the only thing I can think that would explain why you saw it go away.

I don’t have a v3, but they’ve released 2 firmwares recently, one mid-july that was supposed to just add support for continuous cloud recording (a new feature coming in the future) and another today that lists “network connectivity improvements”. Both say they are being rolled out gradually. So maybe a glitch or bad connectivity caused it to disappear, but the firmware from today will fix it?

In the meantime, if you are on the latest firmware you could downgrade to the previous firmware (from March) until you can test the newest one.

I recommend disabling updates and trying new firmware on one cam for at least a day or two (I usually do a week) before upgrading the rest.

4.36.17.10 (August 11, 2026)

  • Security improvements
  • Network connectivity improvements

Note: We are doing a gradual release for this firmware over the next few weeks. If you do not have this firmware version yet, don’t worry! You’ll receive it later.

4.36.16.7064 (July 15, 2026)

  • Added firmware support for continuous video recording to the cloud.
  • Bug fixes.

Note: We are doing a gradual release for this firmware over the next few weeks. If you do not have this firmware version yet, don’t worry! You’ll receive it later.

No i updated their firmware back in march or so. And 2 of them updated and no not there. I called and like I said the 2 reps I talked to said they are removing it from the v3 . I will have to see if I can rollback the firmware or not. But I’m guessing no and Wyze is now pushing people to pay more and not for monthly subscription if I had to guess

I have todays new firmware for my V3 cams 4.36.17.10 and they all still have RTSP available under Advanced settings.
