How to Use Wyze Cameras to Trigger an Alexa Routine (without person detection = free solution)

I enjoy that Wyze Motion and Contact sensors can act as triggers for an Alexa routine. When the garage door opens, I get an immediate announcement on Echo devices; love this feature. Looking around here and on the Facebook Wyze community group, looks like Wyze Camera regular motion cannot be used as a trigger to make an announcement through Alexa. Subscribers to CAM Plus have access to person detection and this can be used as an Alexa trigger. And if you have opted in to person detection during the testing phase, you are granted free access to this service until the end of this year. Person detection is meant for CAM Plus subscribers only but there is a solution for non-subscribers as well!

This is a solution to use the regular motion detection on the V2 and Pan Cam to instruct Alexa to make an announcement on Echo devices! It works extremely well. Here it is and it’s completely free: How to Use Wyze Cameras to Trigger an Alexa Routine

Anyone else as excited as I am?

Looks promising and complicated… might give it a shot when I can set aside some time.

I think this is very promising indeed and has good potential. There is a slight learning curve. Once you get the hang of the sequences, you can actually use the same process to warn you that your garage door has been left opened for too long. Using Wyze sensors and plug to accomplish this. Neat right?

This is awesome! Now I just need for the new sensor version to come out I guess.
