Disappointing to see such crap reviews for the Alexa skill:
It could be amazing to not only have it actually work, but for things like the option to automatically show a camera on an Alexa device when it sees motion.

You can, in theory, do this. You need to setup automations in Alexa app to handle it.
As stated above It already does this. I’ve used it. You just set up a routine Alexa for when motion is detected on that camera as the trigger, and then you set the action to a custom command And enter in the command you would normally give Alexa in order to stream that camera on that particular Alexa device, using the device names. I’ve confirmed this works and is already supported.
Almost – I guess it depends on the camera. With my Wyze cam Motion isn’t an option – only person detection is. For example, I want to see when a car pulls into my parking space, but I can only have it show the camera when it detects a person.
Oh yeah, I see it doesn’t show motion as a trigger option. I could have sworn that it used to.
There are still several workaround ways to do it (especially of you use Android), but I agree that Wyze should add motion triggers to Alexa routines for direct and ready routines that involve something besides a person.
Interesting thread. I have various Alexa routines running and never thought I would want to trigger on motion. To many people using my driveway to turn around. I want to be notified if a person is detected.
I just did a quick survey of my cams to see what Alexa sees.
Hmmmm.

I did want the WBCP, aimed at the driveway, to detect motion.
As @carverofchoice stated there are workarounds. In the Wyze app there is an Automation that allows motion detection, as follows.
It would be nice if other conditions could be added to the WyzeAlexa skill.
p. s. On the lighter side. The dog has developed a pavlonian response to the flashing lights. The lights flash–she runs to the window to see who is there.
I ran into a same problem when I was looking into doing the same thing. Alexa only supports Person detection trigger AFAIK for Wyze cameras.
You can install a Wyze plug / light switch / bulb then use Wyze automation to turn it on when your camera detects a motion/vehicle. Afterwards, use that specific trigger of turning on Wyze plug / light switch / bulb on Alexa to show your specific camera on Echo Show.
In the end, I had to disable the routine because I think Alexa Echo Show or Wyze has a limit on number of requests and it was starting to hang or not respond.
I used vehicle detection vs motion trigger for more accuracy, but Wyze has an inherent issue for vehicle detection. For Wyze if you have a parked car on your driveway, then vehicle detection will always notify you no matter what. The only remedy is either to disable the vehicle detection in smart detection or ignore notification due to how Wyze’s AI detection system work.
