im not sure what OG Tel is. i originally started with two regular v3s closer to the ground. rabbits/deer ate the cables and i got tired of trying to get wyze to warranty it (which their customer service did tbh). from thinking on what you said about the two overlapping, i could probably get away with 1 mounted straight facing instead of one on the left / one on the ride side and let it go nuts.
my concern now is water… these are ip65 rated… water shouldnt be an issue.
excellent. the narrative from the local PD is that the perps case the properties multiple times before attempting to get a feel of the layout, times people are home, etc.
when they go into the act, they use wifi jammers which is why coupling these with sd cards will help in tracking them down.
When mounted right side up I have two that have gotten drenched many times with rain and no issues. As I mentioned my one that was upside down did get some water in it, but the covers that have been posted here or a DIY solution should eliminate that problem, and has for many people here. Just make sure to put a drip loop in the power cord as that is one point water can get in. At that height, depending how directly below you want to view, upside down with a protective cover may be best.
The OG Tel is a Wyze cam with built in 3x optical lens, so you aren’t relying as much on digital zoom and the quality loss. But it is a static cam and does not cover a wide area, so not the perfect solution. I have one aimed at the street in front of my house so if I need to grab a license plate or get a more detailed view of someone’s face, I use that.
Yeah that one isn’t very practical for home use. But while I have decent coverage with my Wyze cams, I have much better coverage from many strategically placed “lead based security devices”.
OG Tel = OG Telephoto, a sort of companion cam to the OG but independent. Don’t remember the exact specs, but for livestreaming it produces images that are 3x (approx. 33%) larger as standard imaging without invoking any zooming features. I have one, it has some positives.
Given the proposed height that @sg9 mentioned in the initial post and the area that’s depicted in the image, this was one of my thoughts, as well.
That’s a good thought, too, and a junction box installation wouldn’t even be necessary with the use of the Cam Floodlight Plug-In Mount. Seems like that’d be a good option given the location and plan for routing power.
i have ADT with the glass break detection and some other basic stuff. their proposal for cameras was insane and did not include install + subscription costs. Costco also has cameras, but why spend 500 and still need a subscription.
Yeah all the OGs come with a mount, different than the pan mount but can mount to a wall, ceiling, etc and the camera can be aimed as desired. Check out the product page, it shows the mount and some pics of install examples.
Like @dave27 said, it does but the mount differs from Cam Pan v3 and even most regular Wyze Cam models. There’s also a stacking kit option with the Cam OG and Cam OG Telephoto if you want a wider overview plus zoomed view of the same (or different) area(s), and Cam OG has its own Picture-in-Picture feature that’s a different PiP feature than what some other Cam models offer, though I don’t know if Cam OG PiP is available in Web View; I’d think that’d be an in-app-only feature.
If it is still the same plastic bracket it works fine on wood as well, you just don’t need to use the anchors. Sheet metal would probably work just need different screws.
