Home Assistant Integration

My biggest wish is home assistant and/or smart things integration. I have so much I want to do but just can’t. I rely on Google home working but even that is extremely buggy especially if your not on the same wifi.

I’m just saying, I like Wyze for the price point and functionality. All things considered I’m not sure Wyze can be beat. As for me, if the integrations improve, such as with HomeAssistant then I will probably expand my arsenal of products by triple or more.

RTSP
Put RTSP on all of your cameras and Wyze will be off the blacklist at the Home Assistant forums.

Matt - can you expand on this? I’ve been a Wyze proponent since the cameras originally released. I’d love tot see more of what made Wyze great back then - the commitment to doing what’s right for the customer, including making alternate ways of using the Wyze products possible (RTSP, IFTTT, etc).

Can you give a notional idea of when we will see HA integration moving? Or RTSP?

Thanks.

In case you didn’t notice, Seckatie added Wyze Lock bolt to the integration today. I don’t have any locks to say what it does.

I saw that!

I haven’t looked into it yet.

If anybody tries it out, let me know the details. Is it using the video doorbell Pro link for unlocking, or does it allow home assistant to connect to it through Bluetooth to control it?

Docs just say the following; Lock, unlock, and view status of lock and door for the Wyze Lock

I sure hope so. If revenue is the main concern, I would absolutely pay extra for local-only subscription.

Will just leave this here:

Make sure to give opinions on RTSP in News, or Facebook Wyze community etc.

Easiest without signing in is clicking link, top right 3 dots, open in external browser.

Agreed. Please, everyone go check out out this post and fill out the survey here:

Here’s a direct link to the RTSP survey:

Here was my feedback:

That’s a good list.

I showed them the analytics and the Works With Home Assistant sites and showed them the market they were losing to Reolink. My closing line was “Introduce a $40 RTSP camera with the Works With Home Assistant badge and Wyse would own the market.”

I also added a little dig- “Do you want to sell cameras or cloud services?”

Just tell them to look at the TP-Link Tapo C120… you all should too.

Yeah, if they sold a reasonably priced Wyze camera with RTSP and works with Home Assistant built into the main firmware (guarantees ongoing support) that could run completely locally (like Reolink does), and still have the remote access as an option when away from home, it would dominate. I will keep driving that same point to them.

Yeah, I do have one of those C120’s. I like a lot of things about it, though not everything. I think they should make something similar though.

One thing I really hate about RTSP implementation from Eufy and TP-Link though, is when you switch to use RTSP, they cap your resolution at 1080p even though the camera supports higher resolution. They also take away a ton of other functionality. Drives me nuts. I wish companies would just leave everything enabled as normal but simply allow streaming in RTSP as well.

But yeah, overall the C120 is an awesome option. It is superior in some aspects and inferior in others, but a great option for those who want RTSP right now. I like using it as a great backup camera for redundancy in case there is an AWS outage.

If we could address these items in Apple shortcuts also cause then we can just add them into our routines. Also, there is an app for the iPhone and for the iPad, how about an app for the Apple TV? That would allow us to view the cameras on a big screen without having to project it from one of the other devices.

Well, @WyzeMatt it’s June 2025 in a couple days. Give us something besides over promising and under delivering.

You or Wyze won’t care and neither will I, but my deadline is action before December 31, 2025.

If no Home Assistant integration or Wyze efforts,

I’m buying Reolink or Aqara G5 Pros and ceasing to buy Wyze. Until action happens, there won’t be any more Wyze purchases.

As or if Wyze cameras fail, I’ll start replacing them with one or both of those brands.

POE this time.

Reolink, highly HAOS compatible, attained Works with Home Assistant logo. Announced on X, but well known. Affordable.

Aqara G5 Pro also Home Assistant RTSP compatible, new product and a work in progress. Very promising though. Expensive.

Don’t misunderstand, I like all of the 15± Wyze wifi cameras I have. I could find places for them even with POE and other brands.

But, not without some motion, person, RTSP etc etc in home assistant. Tired of waiting.

Announce something.

FYI, while this isn’t specifically about Home Assistant, one of the cofounders has been interacting a lot lately about how determined they are to bring us RTSP. I’d recommend reading all the comments from him in this thread:

You may even consider posting a comment or 2 over there since he’s been interacting with people.

Here’s a relevant statement based on what you were asking in your comment:

The survey did have a question asking if we’d like to help beta test their RTSP efforts.

He’s also posted about it in a few other threads. You can read all his other recent activity/posts here:

I appreciate it as usual. I took the poll. And said I was willing to pay extra. I’d even replace cameras if necessary and if required. V4’s all around, OGs would be for sale cheap..

More Action, less talk.

All that needs done is hire or sub contract seckatie. Or buy the integration and expand on it.

Add it into the existing integration.

At least, add all detections which some used to work I believe until Wyze killed it.

Follow up with RTSP. Supervise/proof the hacs integration for security purposes.

I’m too old to wait longer than this year and @WyzeMatt said 2025.

You should see the effort I put in for an HAOS automation for person detected, then turn on bulb with wyze app, and also use as 20% nightlight and 100% daytime on upon Aqara motion sensor detection in HAOS. But I got it done.

Sirens are wake up everybody, person detection isn’t infallible, bulb wake me up is just for me, grab appropriate defensive weapon, investigate.
