Got my camera, have a couple questions? Beta Version of app....

Yes I am talking about extending the camera from the grey base, not opening up the guts of the camera. I have to toggle the camera between the night mode options to get it back to normal once it has gone purple. Sorry, don’t think I have a rare earth magnet.

When you have the base closed up, do you hear a distinct click each time you go from night vision mode to regular and vice versa? Is it the same with the base open?

My working theory is that the magnet in the base is pulling the IR cut filter into place. I have tested by putting a rare earth magnet on the side of the camera. The video turns purple. Remove the magnet and switch night vision on and then off an I’m back to normal. By placing the magnet on top of the camera in various positions, I can actually pull the IR cut filter halfway up as shown below.

Interesting. Maybe there’s something there for enabling the IR filter without powering up the LEDs. Very useful for shooting through a window when you have an IR source outside. Seemingly simple to do in firmware, though. And if it did, would help troubleshooting this issue.

Ok, so I do hear the click when toggling between the night vision modes when the camera is away from the base and when its attached to the base, but its either a louder or double click when I toggle with the base closed. Hope that makes sense.

Sure, if you don’t mind physically putting a magnet on the camera at night and taking if off in the morning.

I’d like to see that firmware option to enable night mode without the LEDs too.

Please let me know what ticket # you have so I can grab it up for you, sorry about that!

Yes, that makes sense and also confirms my theory that your base’s magnet is affecting the IR filter.

Oh, I mind. Was just using it as an excuse to bring the topic back up…

definitely seems like a magnet thing, if I put a magnet on top or on the right side of the camera (as your facing the camera) it goes purple, but it does not go purple if I put the magnet on the left side.

Will I be hearing from someone soon on a replacement unit? I would like to discuss something privately before a new unit is shipped. Thank you.

I am also part of the Beta Version of the app. I have 18 cameras divided between two different locations.

The one thing that I notice is that even though I have the motion detected zone set, when I receive a notification from the camera there is no green box that indicates the motion zone. What I really think is happening is that even though I have indicated the motion zone area the camera it is sensing the sun coming through the windows at the opposite side of the room from my motion zone. So two problems here: Motion zone and no green box.

10 cameras set up in our summer home, 8 in our main home. Summer home sends many more notifications. Occasionally I will receive a notification that does not have a view of the motion. Usually, if I wait long enough, the view will eventually show. I attribute this to the fact that the summer home is in the woods at the bottom between two dunes and the internet is sometimes unstable. Nothing we can do about that. I do have repeaters are round the house to help the signal. I just checked the notification that I had received earlier this morning and I can now see the notification view.

I will be out at the summer home this week and I have micro SD cards for all of the cameras to install and set up. Hopefully that will help when I cannot see an alert view.
