Google Home/Assistant Integration

For cameras, the Home app is only used for configuration. If you want to view the camera feed, you can say to Google Assistant “Show me [camera name] on [cast device].” The cast device can be a Nest Hub, Smart Display, or Chromecast.

At present the Wyze Assistant Action seems a bit clunky and unpolished, I think this is indeed due to the reliance on ThroughTek putting some things outside the control of Wyze. Perhaps a simpler solution would be to include local Google Cast support in the Wyze app (like in TinyCam). It would eliminate the need for cloud resources by utilising the phone as a “bridge” to convert the stream resulting in reduced lag.

Nest cams etc. load a stream in the Google Home app when the camera icon is selected. It is my understanding that due to a stream format incompatibility this is not possible with Wyze Cam at present.

Hey @hdhunter, seems like you may be able to throw some light on the stuff of the comment I made earlier:

Interested?

For those of us who choose not be in constant congress with Assistant, chromecasting directly from the Wyze app would be nice. If Home is easier to pull off, tap-to-view from that app would be fine, too.

I would rather not speak on behalf of Wyze as I do not have all the facts, only a few bits I picked up here and there. @Frederik is the expert and he will no doubt be able to answer any questions.

I am SO excited for this. However, when I go to link my accounts it just pops up[ an error saying it could not update the setting… Anyone else? How can I resolve?

Same as above, won’t connect. Error popup in google home app saying ‘could not update the setting, check your connection.’

Same here, I was connected already but I wasn’t able to cast. I know from a prior post that we may have to unlink and start over so that is what I did.

I’m running into this same issue.

From my Pixel 3 with great wifi/network connectivity:
Select “Wyze Home” from Linked Services - Add new
– Directed through the oauth.wyzecam.com flow, enter credentials, Accept…
— Redirected to Linked services view with waiting message displayed: “Linking your Wyze Home account”
---- Receive error message: “could not update the settings. check your connection.”
----- Observe: Wyze Home is not added to linked services

Update: I powered off and on each of my Google Home Minis. After doing so, i was able to comple the Linked Services steps without issue. Now each of my Wyze Cams appear in my list of devices.

On android I get, “couldn’t update setting, check your connection.”
On iOS I get “Wyze account linked” - however it spins for a minute and then says, “Something went wrong”

Well I got it to link. rebooted my google hub. thats it.

Same here, I did both, got the same error :frowning:

Perhaps @UserCustomerGwen or someone else could verify if the servers are just totally loaded up with the implementation of the Google Home/Assistant integration?

Had the same issue. This seems to be an issue in the Google Home app linking process, I’ve also experienced it when linking other services. I would recommend you use Chrome to complete the linking process, Google advised that other browsers (such as Samsung Internet) may cause issues. Clearing the browser cache, force stopping and rebooting your phone might help. Otherwise the issue usually resolves in a day or two if left alone. This is all I can say from my experience with Google and Google Home, of course the issue could be something completely unrelated.

I don’t think you can do it online, you need to use the app. If you try using chrome on the device it just loops. I have tried with iOS and Android devices with the same outcome. Clearing the browser cache won’t help since the issue spans between the devices. Not sure what else we can do but wait… Very odd. I haven’t had this issue with other services.

So after trying over and over it always errored out but then when the app refreshed it added the cameras. So not sure how but I am happy. THere seems to be a long delay in the stream on my chromecasts but it works. Thanks Wyze!

We have been experiencing some outage this morning. Servers are back up but we are monitoring and are suspecting that the servers might fold again. Please, be patient today with the integration since we have so many people trying to get in.

They are and we already had two outages this morning. We had a theorical capacity but the servers seem to be giving up before we reached that point. The engineering team has been woken up and are looking into the issue.
