Goodbye Wyze - Awful Experience

Wyze has become such a garbage company. I have now has 4 bulb camera that stop working. They will not allow me to see any video from the SD card. They know this is an issue as other people in various forums have reported this same issue. I originally had 2 of the camera stop working. After hours of back and forth they finally sent me 2 new camera which worked for a couple of days and then had the exact same problem. I have now been working for days with multiple phone calls trying to get a refund or at least store credit for this. Every time they tell me on the phone it is resolved and they will be sending me the necessary information, they then send an email back tracking and refusing a refund or store credit. This also isn’t the first camera that just doesn’t work I had to return a Pan Camera because it would not even connect. They gave me some store credit but then forced me to cover shipping. Why do I have to pay more money for problems that are their fault? I have been a Wyze customer since the beginning (their original camera)), and have a ton of their other cameras. I am done with this awful company. I will be removing my Wyze and replacing them with cameras from a competitor who actual builds products that work and has decent customer service. Wyze products have gotten way more expensive and way worse. Garbage company especially the customer service.

Just curious what brand you are planning on going with?

I use to love wyze. I really liked they were enabling people to set up cameras and help people set up their own security. The problem I have is now the money grubbing like all the other companies. I’m retired and struggling so I.bought those sd cards so I could not renew subscriptions both with wyze and blink. My blink are slower to load but they work but not wyze. They have rigged my cameras not to allow switch to sd mode. The subscriptions were one of several things I had to cut and these cameras are suppose to work on the SD cards. Wyze do the right thing and don’t lock up cameras trying to force people to take subscriptions. When you first started you didn’t even charge subscriptions and you really messed us over with the alarm monitoring. I was with you from the beginning.

They have become a absolutely joke of a company nobody should support this crappy company they should close shop after everything they have done

The cameras work great with no subscription and an SD card. That is exactly how a LOT of people use their cameras. If you’re having problems, let the smart folks on this forum help you.

Have you fully ruled out the possibility that your SD cards are low quality or fake capacity?

I have as and rtsp setup I have separated clans and if I kill the internet to the Wyze WiFi cams that go into a boot loop cause they canning reach the Wyze clouds I record everything local on my own personal equipment running Linux and frigate and they won’t do that. If I want security like most cams do on the market.

I was replying to OP. They’re having issues with SD cards.

RTSP is different and if you want a cam that requires no internet, you need to specifically look for that. Cloud cams require internet to function. They have no internal clock, their settings are stored on a cloud server, authentication is done in the cloud and not directly on the cam, etc.

The are true Samsung micro sd cards they work fine in my printer and I can read them in my oc as well. They have made it so they have to have internet connection even after the initial setup. I have a few other brands and they have to have internet to setup and after that they have no internet. I don’t use their apps

You may be correct I bought them from wyze

Switching to Reolink and Tapo cams is so much better than all the Wyze issues…

On my non-Wyze cams I don’t have any issues at all, no corruption of SD cards, No 5 minute cool-down, No Subscription, just working cameras

Why would anyone put up with Wyze and their :poop:???

I’m using the same SD card that were in the Wyze cams on the other cams and zero issues.

SanDisk high endurance cards, not Wyze SD cards:rofl:

I have had good luck using SanDisk High Endurance 32GB Micro SD card in Wyze Cam v3 cameras. My oldest SanDisk card has been recording continuously for 4.5 year with no problems.

I get about 3.5 days of Continuous Recording videos before the oldest files get over-written. I save videos i want before 3.5 days.

Yes, as mentioned multiple times, cloud cameras require cloud connectivity to function.

Again I have mentioned several times there’s no reason for this after setup if you are recording locally and are worried about security. I have other cams that that work perfectly fine after setup. I do not use their app.

And I’ve told you that there is. So I guess there’s no point in debating further.

Those who are worried about security should not be using cloud cams, regardless of brand.

Then why do they other three brands of cams work just fine with out it. So bs that they do. Wyze has completely pushed paying monthly subscription to their crappy service now. It used to be decent

I don’t have the other brands so I can’t comment on them, but Wyze relies on the cloud ecosystem by design, in order to make as cheap as possible cams (the less onboard processing, the cheaper the cam can be).

You do not need a subscription for any of this and that has nothing to do with whether they need to talk to the cloud or not, so not sure why you’re throwing that into the mix.

Do your other brands of cams maintain accurate time after a power cycle without internet?

If you don’t use their apps, how do you configure the cams?

Long story short, if you want to use cameras totally “offline” in a closed circuit type setup, you either need to go to very old firmware on the Wyze (as far as I know the old v3 RTSP firmware does not have the 30 minute restart in it, but you’ll still need to set up some sort of local NTP intercept to keep the time right) or go with a cam that is specifically designed for offline use.

Yes the other three brands work just fine without internet. The only one doesn’t not is the doorbell which I knew if I wanted to use their app. As in somebody pressed the button and talk to them. The other brands I have a Reolink, tp link and I believe the other brand I have is eufy. All work and keep time without internet. I have mentioned this
