I installed the garage door opener a few weeks ago. It works fine with the Wyze app, but when I try to use it with Alexa, it asks for my code, and then responds with “You hardware device is not responding. Please check your garage door app.” I’ve tried uninstalling and resinstalling the Wyze Alexa skill several times, but I keep getting the same response. What could be going wrong?
Sounds like this. The Wyze skill has not been linked between Alexa and your Wyze account.
Add the skill. AND later if it stops or gets sketchy - unlikely but possible. Just unlink and link it again.

There was a recent Amazon AWS outage which impacted Alexa.

Right, and certainly all my Alexa stuff didn’t work when it happened earlier today. Unfortunately the garage door never worked with Alexa since I installed it weeks ago, and also today after AWS has been restored.
