Cam v3 that came with garage door controller stopped working just a few months after I bought it. Second one works fine. I used a spare one I had for a few months and since I needed to use the spare one for something else, plugged in the original to see if it works. As usual, it worked for a couple of days and broke down again. Contacted support. They said it only works with v3 and they stopped manufacturing v3, asked me to find it with other resellers. This doesn’t give me a warm and fuzzy feeling that Wyze products other than perhaps cheap cameras are the right way to go for me. Also I had a pan cam v2 and that stopped working after a couple of years. Ugh… but now I’ve to find some reseller that may have v3 and if that also goes bad after a few months, I’m toast and have to look for a non-Wyze product
Wyze isn’t making it anymore (it is several years old and newer models have come out). But you can still buy it on amazon and other places.
The v4 does have a garage door alert function but I don’t think it works with the opener, and requires a subscription as far as I know.
I’m not sure if anyone has attempted to get a different cam to work with the opener but I suspect that programming wasn’t included in any others.
Sadly I can’t be very much help but if you are able to find another V3 know that typically their lifespan is longer than that, The one that I currently have controlling my garage door is 4 years old, activated January 8th of 2022. So it’s in its 5th year and running strong. Hopefully you’re able to find one and get it hooked up, I’ve seen quite a few online but I haven’t had a need for them yet.
I was able to find one on Amazon, hope it works for a while. I am surprised they didn’t make Cam v4 compatible with the controller. Guess “backward compatibility” is not thought out. Oh well…
