Why did wyze decide to add a floating “submit a log” button to the app? It annoys the heck out of me. I have tried to disable it but can’t find out how. Does anyone know if there is a way how to get rid of it?
Indirect answer - if you’re on Android you can install an older app version from places like APMirror and APKPure.
It is a bit strange that we now have a floating button. I supposed the thought process would be that it will be easier for all (and as a reminder for all) to submit a log for troubleshooting purposes…
As long as he app is open, I move it to the top (near the Wyze logo) so that it is “out of the way” until needed…
I rather to see a tab somewhere on top or bottom but not a floating button like this that gets on the way of everything. Pretty much annoying
That is adding an unnecessary inconvenience, plus getting an older app version from a third party is always a risk for getting malicious bugs.
I second the irritation of the floating log button, and I’ll add that I can’t send a log in app it just fails to upload every attempt. Personally, I’d rather disable the floating button if sending a log doesn’t even work.
I agree. Give us the option of disabling the button or at least stay where I put it.
The floating button is kinda like adding troubleshooting diagnostic code to the codebase. Why Wyze would even want to highlight such a feature by making it so prominent seems illogical.
Usually a convenience button means you expect to use it often. The button not only sends logs, it sends negative vibes… not to mention very annoying.
@UserCustomerGwen can you help us understand the logic here please?
I don’t have a floating submit a log button in either my Android or IOS app. Both are up to date.
It’s in the beta version. We are beta testers. It is expected that there will be feedback from us.
Oh then that’s different. The poster didn’t mention beta.
Beta testers have the little gear/wrench graphic in the lower right corner or their avatar. It’s not automatic but only beta testers can add it, I believe.
I always wondered what that was! Learned something new today.
I think it only applies to ‘Beta’ users
Meh, me thinks I missed something… Should read more.
Ok thanks. This was originally in Ask the Community (which I’ve done myself in the past by mistake so not pointing fingers) but I thought this was public release at first. Thank you for clariying.
Take your point. I stand corrected.
Maybe I need to pay more attention to the differences between beta & released or study release notes to know.
I understand. I’ve been using beta since the beginning and forget that not everyone is seeing the same app.
Same. I have 100% been guilty of posting about beta issues in ask the community. I’ve been with the beta since I got my first cam, too.
The problem is that how do we know what is different from the beta and the general public version when it comes to software, and features changes? . Regardless of which version you use , it still is an unnecessary and forceful annoyance.
