Thanks SlabSlayer for checking on it for me!
My Pixel 6a phone is on Android 13 and is up-to-date on security updates.
It does the same thing on my spouse’s 4a/5g Pixel on Android 13.
The V3 Pro is on firmware version 4.58.11.4679 and the V3s are all on 4.36.10.4054
SlabSlayer,
Under Account/App Settings, Do you have “Enable Hardware Decoder” or “Running in the background” turned on?
We have both settings turned off on our phones.
Thanks again for your help!

Yes to both. I find that my videos play better with the Hardware Decoder enabled. I discovered that when first using my V3Pro with the 2K video. I don’t see a downside to leaving it on. The Running in the Background setting is more of a legacy setting as the purpose for it was solved within the app a very long time ago. But it does introduce a persistant notification in the notification tray if that is something that you wanted for verification that the app is running.

SlabSlayer,
I just received the updated Wyze android app (2.43.5 (313)).
I enabled the hardware decoder (I left “running in the background” off for now).
I cleared the cache inside the app (under app settings).
I force stopped the app and cleared the cache from the android 13 “settings, apps” side, and rebooted the phone.
I launched the new App, went to EVENTS and selected a V3 Pro video (I have CAM+ unlimited).
On 1x speed it like stutters every second. On 4x it is less pronounced but still there.
When I run the same video from the webview side (Firefox) it is very smooth.
It is not a game stopper by any means, just weird.

It may very well be phone or OS version specific. I haven’t updated yet. Will try tonight.

Happy Friday! :grinning:

We have a new batch of submissions to go through! Thank you to everyone who participated in the voting. Here’s what we have for you this month:

 Core - Wyze Cam Pan v3 randomly stops recording

We have a fix for this in beta! Please try out 4.50.4.4767 if you’re a beta tester and let us know how it performs!

:sob: Forum - Playback goes to the most recent part of the timeline from an Event Video on iOS instead of the actual time of the recording :sob:

We’re working on fixing this now! We’ll keep you posted about our progress.

:black_square_button: Bonus Forum - Wyze Cam v2 Detection Zone reverted to a box instead of a grid :black_square_button:

We’re working on fixing this issue from the cloud side. Thanks for reporting it!

:telephone_receiver: Reddit - Phone call audio has to be turned on to hear audio through the iOS app for grouped cameras :telephone_receiver:

We haven’t been able to reproduce this. If you’re affected, could you please post a screen recording of this issue so we can check it out?

:flashlight: Discord - Wyze Cam v3 does not stay connected to the Spotlight accessory :flashlight:

Any chance you could send in a log for this? We’d like to look into this. Here are the instructions:

Recreate the issue. Then in the Wyze app, go to Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select your device from the dropdown menu. Then fill in the description box with the date, time, and time zone of the most recent time you noticed this issue and a description of what’s happening. Make sure the Send Logs option is selected and then submit your log. When you have the log number, please post it here as a reply to me so I can get it to the right folks.

Please pardon the upcoming copy/paste because several of these issues have the same update.

We found a release blocker during beta. Right now, we’re figuring out whether we’ll wait for a fix for this issue, or if we’ll adjust the firmware to exclude that portion of the update and continue working on it. We’ll let you know when we’re ready to move forward!

Test results for future device performance are looking better but the drift is still visible to the naked eye. Our game plan now is to implement the new strategy to the production line (that will take about a month), collect more data points about the hardware deviation that is leading to drifting, and then release a new firmware that will adjust to improve the performance of the existing devices. We know that this has taken a while and we appreciate your patience.

:face_with_monocle: Forum - When Wyze Cam v3s are in a group some of them will fail to load live feeds and return an Error Code 90 :face_with_monocle:

We’re still looking for logs (and thank you to the people who have sent some in!). We know that this is an involved process but they really help! We’ll be building specific metrics to monitor this but could use your assistance. Could you please send those in along with your camera’s MAC address (you can find this in Camera Settings > Device Info) and the timestamp for when the camera went offline? Here are the log instructions:

When the device shows offline, please take out the microSD card and wait a second before re-inserting the card (or inserting a new microSD card). The camera will then make two “ding” sounds usually within 30 seconds.

On your microSD card, there will be a root or log folder with the device log that you can access with a computer. The files are named as xxxxx_log.txt. If there are multiple logs, select the most recent log file.

When you have the log, please email it along with a description of the issue and the date, time, and time zone that it occurred to:

microsdcardlogs@wyze.com

Thanks a bunch! Have a great weekend, folks.

This is interesting to me. I would’ve thought the detection zone was mostly done by firmware since it has to be on the camera locally to tell it what to ignore before reporting it to the cloud. I guess this means that setting the detection zone is done in the cloud with the App, and then those parameters are given to the camera to store in a file telling to block out x/y coordinate to x/y coordinate and our setting it up isn’t really being done on the camera live, just transferred to the camera from the cloud after we click save. I just thought that was an interesting hint implied by this response. This also tells me that Wyze could fairly easily update the detection grids to be more customizable like some other companies have, instead of limiting us to a static grid to choose from. It probably wouldn’t even require a firmware update. They would just design a new detection zone GUI and it converts and saves those paramets onto the camera later to tell it which pixels to ignore/detect in a video. It sure would be nice to have more flexibility. For example, if you have a sidewalk going diagonal across your camera frame, you’re going to have a jagged detection zone and struggle trying to keep that sidewalk in view but not the road, but if it was more customizable like other companies have, we could just easily drop a couple of detection dots between the sidewalk and the road and it would include the entire sidewalk and none of the road. That kind of thing is hard to do with this grid, but I am glad to learn it might be easier to update in the future some day…not saying it will happen, but I’m glad to know a little better how it works.

Are you submitting the microSD card logs in that email address? If so thank you, if not we need you to email some in if you would like to help.

Alexa Live View does not work with the latest WyzeCam v3 camera hardware that is being sold on Amazon Canada (but display fine in the Wyze app). Older V3 hardware works fine with the same Wyze app / Alexa skill.

Wyze support has been contacted multiple times and all suggested fixes from Wyze do not work. Multiple others are experiencing this issue when ordering newer V3 cameras from Amazon.ca.

See below threads that are also discussing this issue:

I have posted a negative review on the Amazon Canada Wyzecam v3 page, describing this issue and recommending that everyone avoids purchasing new V3 cameras until this issue is fixed.

Thanks

Yes Wyze please fix this. I have echo show 8 and my v3 pan cam and v3 cam wont show live feed in alexa app. It only works on wyze app. I bought this to literally see on my echo show and now can only see on my phone.
(My old v2 wyze works fine on alexa app and wyze app but not the new v3s.). MANY MANY people have reported same issue.

Good afternoon! :grinning:
