Wyze announced security improvements that they call VerifiedView last year, and they have been incorporating security updates into various Cams’ firmware since then. When they made that announcement, they included this message in their blog post about it:
They didn’t say exactly how long users would be able to continue to access cameras with the older app, and it’s definitely been a few months since that announcement. Over time, newer firmware releases for some Cams have also required the newest app versions for full compatibility.
If I recall correctly, the video that accompanied the announcement said that old Cams would not receive updates incorporating VerifiedView because of technical limitations, and they haven’t sold Cam v1 for years, so that explains why you’re still able to use that Cam with your app.
At this point, you essentially have a couple of options:
- Switch to a mobile device capable of running a current 64-bit version of Android.
- Manually flash you Cam Pan v3 to an older firmware version that would still work with whatever Wyze app version you’re using.
