Firmware Releases - Released 1/16/2024

Just emailed Alexey about the issue.

Also I have three V3s, out of my many Wyze cams, failed to connect with flashing blue led after updates. Manually flashed latest firmware, same problem. Manually flash to previous firmware 4.36.11.7095 (October 25, 2023). The cam connected but failed to stream. Looks like the latest app can stream cams with latest firmware only. Then OTA updated to latest firmware and flashing blue led again, offline and no streaming. Interestingly I can restart this cam by clicking the restart button under Settings page. Also app indicates the cam is ON. Strange …

After the update, I have 5 cameras not working. Did all the usual. Please need a fix for this asap.

Multiple cams saying disconnected in the app, although they appear connected to my router and are sending event notifications.

I have 4 V3 cameras and I manually check them periodically including every morning when having my cup of joe! This morning I updated the first camera and it has failed to connect. I even went outside (in 30F chill, in FL panhandle!) and unplugged & replugged it to power recycle. I could later see the blue status light but my Android Wyze app still cannot connect to it! I even force stopped the app twice but no go. Help! (Yes, I will bring the camera in later this morning and retry… busy otherwise at the moment.) TY
Update/correction: I couldn’t resist and went to inspect the camera and noticed the blue light flashing now after another power reset. So, I have unplugged it and brought it in. Will update later.

Okay… the update probably went thru… the camera is inside temporarily and is working now. I am now updating the firmware on a 2nd camera (outside)… let’s see how this one goes.

Anyone reading this thread: do NOT update your Cam v3 software. As always it is a total gamble whether or not this update will brick your equipment. It seems I hit the lottery with both my v3 cameras as neither will connect after power cycling, factory resetting, etc. Got me some paper weights while I cross my fingers that they ever fix this (My 3x Cam v2 and sense v1 cries in e-waste)

Check out this site: WYZE ISSUES!!!

Woke up this morning and shortcuts to turn on my lights didn’t work. Then noticed cameras are not working right. Some v3s have the new firmware and others do not. Whatever is going on is impacting v3s with the previously released firmware as well as the new firmware. Please get on this WYZE.

Yesterday evening I updated all my V2 and PanV1 cameras to the newest versions.
I thought I had bricked one of my V3 cameras today going to the recent firmware update 4.36.11.8391 from 4.36.11.7095 (attempted it about an hour ago).
Error Message from Android App was:
“Your device has lost its connection. Please check your internet connection or try moving the device closer to your Wi-Fi router.”
I tried turning it off/on, etc, but to no avail.
After about an hour it magically recovered on its own (may have been due to AWS problems)?
In the meantime I had broken the seal on a brand new V3 (factory sealed box).
The firmware update odyssey then began:
4.36.9.139 05/18/2022 (initial out of box firmware)
4.36.10.4054 03/22/2023
4.36.10.7146 10/30/2023 (this date looks suspect)??
4.36.11.7095 10/25/2023
4.36.11.8391 01/17/2024 (current)
Wow, that was fun. Luckily this is just a spare V3 now, I am so glad I did not have to break out the ladder to replace the other one in the 15 degree cold weather.
I still have two V3 and one V3 Pro camera to update, but I am holding off!

WyzeJasonJ:
The date on the 4.36.10.7146 V3 firmware update looks wrong to me?
4.36.10.7146 (October 30, 2023)

Reduced the likelihood of update failure from the previous version

This firmware will only be available to devices with 4.36.10.4054 firmware

9 cams bricked today.

I can’t get a brand new out-of-the-box V3 to connect either.

Looks like others seem to be having problems too (downdetector.com)?

I am sorry this is happening. We are looking into the issues currently. I am being told that there was a spike of offline devices but that they are recovering, we are looking into the logs I was given to make sure the issue is not related to the firmware that was released.

I must say, that is the worst firmware upgrade I’ve ever experienced, with any product not just Wyze. I’ve had Wyze cams since 2018. A new record Wyze. This is why you’re supposed to listen to beta testers. You did beta test this right?

Ten cameras total, 1 Pan, 3 V3’s and 4 V2’s.

I have been three hours getting 3 of my 10 cameras back online. 6 are still offline. One had RTSP firmware so didn’t get upgraded. That may be my only solution, put RTSP on the others.

I got three back by power cycling them 2-3 times. I’ve power cycled the rest up to 8 times, 30 seconds off then plug them in, but they still won’t connect.

I know this is nothing new for today! My attempt to upgrade my 2nd V3 camera also is stuck… it doesn’t connect now. This camera is hard for me, if not impossible, to physically remove and take inside as it is at a considerable height in my front porch. (Long story short, my wife has banned me from climbing ladders after a serious head injury over a year ago!.. can’t argue with that.) So, I am going to wait awhile before I decide on a fix for this camera. Sigh. Definitely disappointed. (I am a legacy software developer and can’t see how a new upgrade was released without seeing this connection issue… hmm!)

These down detector charts are very useful, however it is important to look at the numbers on the left. For example, the spike of this outage is only 32 reports. This is much higher than usual, but due to the low numbers it is still hard to say this is a widespread issue. If you look at the graphs on outages of other companies, real outages, it will often be in the thousands.

Just something to keep in mind. In this case there definitely seems to be an issue, though it doesn’t appear to be super widespread.

The goal should be what is causing the issue not can we prove it wasn’t the firmware release.

Let me know if I can send logs or anything to try and find the cause.

We did beta test this and did not get these issues, this issue does not seem to be firmware related as the cams that are down are spread across different firmware.

Part of that is it just being early for me, we are looking for the cause of the issue, but when it coincides with a firmware release you kind of gravitate to that first. If you have some logs I will gladly take them and pass them up.

Same issue here. Updated all 4 V3 cams and none will connect now. Deleted one and reinstalled. Still does not connect. I’m not going to waste my time trying to make it work. Wyze, give us a fix that doesn’t require me to climb ladders and reinstall all my V3 cameras. I’m going to use my time to have a drink.

BTW…North Carolina…1/17/24…11:30 am…28 degres F

UPDATE…The 4 vs cameras are all back online. 3:41 pm

All my v2 and v3 are kaput, all updated today.

All my Pan Cams are still working (did not get updated today).
All my wireless are still working (did not get updated today).

Just teasing a bit.

I don’t have anything now but if there’s anything I can do, that can be logged, let me know.

I am seeing strange behavior. There is a difference in the app from the camera being unplugged and the camera not being online. When one is unplugged the app shows Offline in the app Home page. When it’s powered but won’t connect the home page shows the last camera image but the Live cam view shows Offline with different error codes or Connection Failed. To me this indicates that when the camera is powered there is some communication with the network and/or Wyze.
