I would like to request a feature that would allow event recording to be toggled from the automations tab. This would include toggles for the “Record events triggered by Motion” and “Record events triggered by Sound” switches under event recordings.
This would allow for toggling via schedules, location, and shortcuts. I think this would be a good feature because there would be a lot less events to filter through for cameras that people would only like to have “recording” events while away or during certain times.
I am aware there is a way to disable notifications and motions detection, but when using smart detections, events are constantly being recorded. Especially by interior cameras where there are constantly people.
It would be ideal to keep the camera on and recording to the sd card, but not recording hundreds of smart detection events during certain schedules or when people are supposed to be in view of the camera.
This is my first time creating a topic on this site and I’m not sure if this is the right place for this.
Your request seems like a good candidate for this Wishlist topic:

No. It would be ideal to keep the camera on and recording to the sd card, but not recording hundreds of smart detection events during certain schedules or when people are supposed to be in view of the camera.
Ah, ok, thought you wanted it to not record when people were in the room or something. In that case, the existing “turn on motion detection” and “turn off motion detection” should work for you.
Personally, I’d never have a cloud cam in an interior space when people are present.
After double checking, this is correct. The automation action “Turn on/off Motion Detection” does toggle the motion option for event recording.
For some reason the motion detection didn’t get toggled this time from my automation, even though it is set to, and I was scratching my head about it because I noticed the led would turn red when it’s supposed to be blue and that it was recording events (I thought someone was watching the live view at first).
