Extension cable for light socket

Hello, have several v3’s and they work fine. Got 3 v4’s and a couple sockets. Cam one works great, and uses the features that are advertised amazingly using the socket cable. I had also ordered the extensions thru Wyze for a placement where I would need it, but some to find out the socket is not compatible with the extension. So, I found data connector online to make the standard v4 cam cable mate to the socket cable. This, did not work. What can I do to get extension on the socket and make it work as advertised?

Also how do I get 2 v4’s to work and trigger one socket?

I have done this.

  • You will need to use the data-capable cord that came with the socket that fits in there right.
  • THEN get a second cord that has MicroUSB male on one end, and the other end can be whatever you want, but it will likely be the standard USB-A
  • THEN get a Micro-USB “Coupler” connector that is also data-capable. Make sure one end is MicroUSB Female (for the original cord’s mUSB-Male connector to plug into, and make sure the other end of the coupler is appropriate for connecting up to the second cord you got into the coupler (probably USB-A Female for the USB-A male connector to plug into)
  • Plug in the cords
  • If it’s outside, wrap up the whole connector in self-fusing Silicone tape to waterproof the whole connection between the 2 cords.
  • Plug in the camera
  • Go through Setup for the Lamp Socket(s) if you haven’t already done so.

The Lamp Socket can only be PAIRED to 1 V4 at a time, however, you can use rules/automations to make the second V4 control the socket(s) too. You would just choose a trigger like when “Motion” is detected and an action to tell it to “Turn on Lamp socket for x minutes” when that motion is detected. Now both cams can control the light.
